Because on a recent trip to Dubai we went on a beginners dune expedition where me and a mate were let loose on brand new ktm 450cc motocross bikes, and about 90 minutes later was that the top of the largest dune - Big Red!
The lack HSE was hilarious, at one point we were flying along the main road to get to the real dunes getting passed by umpteen Nissan Patrols
From quite literally never having sat on a bike, ever I was flat in third with the back end wiggling about as we got to the top, what a hoot!
Now I have clearly got home and am on the hunt for a decent crosser and looking for trails! Traversing sand was bloody hard but a tougher intro to bikes I doubt was out there: sand dunes and 35 degree heat!
Road bikes don’t really appeal, and I know I am nowhere near mental enough for racing them but the off-road experience was awesome, we were going to go for dune buggies but I think we made the right call with the bikes!
I get it!
