Want of the day

The levels of want for this are just off the scale.

The E39 has to be one of BMW's best looking cars. If my M5 and been a touring I don't think I'd have ever parted with it.

Seems nicely done but it isn’t an M5 touring, $40 grand!?

I think it's as close to an M5 touring as you'll ever get.
40 grand's a bargain right  ? I've seen people pay a lot more for a lot worse.

Awful beige leather, and it looks like the standard elephant hide rather than the usual M5 nappa. Not nearly worth the money.

The modern idrive unit doesn’t suit the interior at all. Would be better with a smaller standard sized aftermarket system.

$40k but still nearly two days to go, it could go up muchly yet.
I'd only have lhd if it was a car only ever built as lhd (E30 M3, E34 M5 Touring, etc), if a conversion I'd want rhd .

Oh, it was, and I did :)

Everyone else thought it was brill, but living with it every day became - if you'll believe it - boring. Because it was such an all-rounder. For sitting in traffic it was no different to a cooking 3-Series. For fun it wasn't quite special enough to get excited about. I'd imagine an M5 Touring could end up the same. But that's just me. YMMV.

It's nice, but not £40k + nice. It's not exactly a difficult conversion.

Rusty but mechanically sound e39 m5 + tidy e39 touring + several hours on the spanners = the m5 touring BMW never made.

Only a fraction of the work a decent e46, e91 or f31 m3 touring would be.
