Rain Repellant

I've never been a fan of RainX on my windscreen as I always seem to get wiper judder. I got a recommendation for Angel wax vision glass cleaner, and angel wax h2go. I have to say that it is fantastic stuff.

I've given the windscreen a couple of coats and spent a decent amount of time buffing it so there is no smearing when wipers are used and I have had zero wiper judder. . Also done the side windows and headlights.

It's super stuff and well worth purchasing.

Does the 1 series have the same filter issue as the 3 series? Our 320d had a gummed up washer system, presumably from using rain x or similar.

I just use normal screen was but I do enough miles to pump enough through it that there shouldn't be any issues.

Used rainx for years on loads of cars and never had an issue with judder wipers.

Not tried the screen wash additive, just the stuff you put on the screen every few months.

Rumour is that's because of BMW screenwash not mixing with any other screenwash and turning to gloop.

No idea if that's bullshit tho

I’ve used the Rain X coating since I started driving as it just works. If the windscreen is really coated in crap I’ll clay it whilst washing. Whenever I wax the car the car I do the lights too as you’re not meant to use the glass coating Rain X on plastic, they have a specific plastic safe one for that.

When I had the Golf ceramic coated the detailer did the screen with this. Lasted about a year or more.

+1 for using the rain-x washer additive, 'cos I'm a lazy git these days.
