Back to the old crap... shame, I’ve been to Sri Lanka and there’s loads of beautiful scenery and interesting vehicles on the roads.

Yeah, that wasn't great. The guest bit was ok for a change though, or maybe it was the rest of the show making it look better?

Yeah, at least the guest had some interest in cars.

I don’t know why they think we want to see to men who clearly have good chemistry and like each other pretend to be arguing over silly little badly choreographed accidents. It’s just weird.

I was waiting for the stig to take the M5 and E63 round the track to see if Chris was correct in saying the E63 had finally conquered the M5 but I guess we’ll never know...

Extra Gear was better than the main show, with Henry Catchpole on as a guest. I don't know why they don't have Chris on the sofa in the new series, seeing as they're always talking about the car that he's reviewed. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/ ... pisode-2

The Sri Lanka feature was like Chucklevision.

Agree, but Chris would probably end up dominating what is Rory's show

I quite liked the Tuk Tuk/Sri Lanka bit, but just for some of the scenery and having fond memories of Tuk Tuk-related incidents in Thailand.
Good to see Henry on Extra Gear, and the 'drift mode' comparisons.

Forgot about Extra Gear, will have to watch it.
I wonder if Henry on there is Chris' influence, planting a seed for the future.

Sooo...should Jobbo (and/or GG) get a Tuk-Tuk then?

There's not a chance GG would spend this much on his wife

Waste of an episode, it could have been much better. Interesting that both Top Gear and The Grand Tour reviewed the M5 in the same week. I really like the new M5 except for one thing: the lack of flared wheel arches :( .

The M5 has never had noticeably flared wheelarches; the E60 and F10 had different front wings with the grilles in, but the arches were pretty much identical to the standard cars.

Really? I thought M5s always look wider at the arches. Probably just me then.

Big fat tyres and rims that filled the arches on my E39 but I think the arches themselves were standard.

edit - in fact, I think the rear rims just sit out further. That Sport version is very similar, isn't it!

E60 M5 has a little wider front arches, does the F10 not too?

They're slightly different - the whole wings are different because they have the gills set in them and the inner wings are different for the wider track. But they're not particularly obviously flared. Not like the M3 for instance.
