Been on the cards for a few years, unfortunately.

They were never really anything special to fly in and feel like they’re falling to bits on takeoff/landing so meh.

Not so surprised here... In NZ, where every international flight is pretty bloody long (except Aus) most of the carriers have been moving to the long haul single level planes like the 787 (I think it's that one) - they're basically just much cheaper to run per flight. So I reckon a twin level plane for long haul only makes financial sense where the sheer number of passengers you have to move per day is so high having multiple 787's to do the same job doesn't break even.

You'd think big efficient planes were on the money but it seems they are so big they can't fill them

A couple of my mates work on the wings at Broughton. Not a good day for them. Even having a visit from the new Beluga XL didn’t cheer them up much.

I've flown to/from west coast USA on both an A380 and a Dreamliner (787-800) and I have to say I preferred the A380. It's so much quieter, particularly on take-off and landing, more stable and just a smoother flight. The ambient lighting and the clever windows on the Dreamliner were nice, but I felt more refreshed and relaxed after getting off the A380. Both times I flew out in the afternoon and flew back on the red-eye.

Lovely planes to be on and the most spacious by far. Emirates will keep theirs into the 2030s apparently. Oh and Mito can be ignored as usual. Utter bollocks.

Quiet, sensible seat layouts and very quiet.

The 787 lighting, the narrow seat bases and stupid windows without simple shutters. If you are wider than a small girl then anything less than business is genuinely uncomfortable.

Always remember flying to Dubai and ringing the wife to say I’m just having a drink at the bar, a lovely experience.

It’s been on the cards for years though but I don’t know the reason why. Probably another step closer to seeing passengers as cattle and trying to push the space as much as possible.

Blue light prevents your brain from going into NREM sleep, which is when your brain does a refresh and clean-up. The 787 I was on had this, stupid idea.

It says a lot when you see an ageing 777 and have a sigh of relief

Yep I'm with you on that mate, nothing wrong with 777s. Last of the old-school whack-two-cunting-great-engines-on-it planes.

The lack of noise on takeoff in a 380 is something everyone should experience, it's lovely.

Ah yes, I'd forgotten about that. 3/3/3 in a 787 is just too much. Yes, they are fucking narrow aren't they? Impossible to put your arms anywhere, particularly when they serve food and you try and eat it whilst keeping your elbows in front of your body.

I really enjoyed my flights on a 787 but I was in business class and nearly all my other flying has been with Ryanair or Easyjet so it was bound to be an improvement.

Emirates A380s are the best planes I've been on, that's why I always try and fly with them to HK. BA's A380s aren't as good.
