Tesla Model X

I spent about 1.5 hours in a Model X the last 2 days and am quite surprised. It was a taxi so it may affect some parts of it.

The one I was in was a 4 adult and 1 child version. As the centre seat had me bent over due to the beam going down the centre of the car. The seats were far too firm, taxinsoec maybe, and the fit and finish for a 90k car was awful. It wasn’t falling apart but every bit of trim looked a little bit squiffy. It was also an anti-tardis, like there was space but in the wrong areas.

Acceleration was very strong, it was a P100D and the midrange was more than I expected given the size. It was dull though and I never enjoyed it how I do in other more vocal cars. It’s how it feels aswell, just dull.

The ride was very firm and a bit crash, considering it was on large winter wheels I was surprised. Also the boot wasn’t as big as I thought it would be, it felt like quite a short car.

The door, was a silly gimmick, slow to close and sounded a bit rubbish, BUT, it’s a gullwing and was very cool, I loved pressing the button to open it and it was very Fun to watch, you can tell Musk had a hand in such a cool feature.

If you want something truly modern and the range, EV nature of it isn’t a negative for you then I can’t imagine why you would buy anything else in that price range. It felt very Tesla like and unlike the S, which just felt like a badly made dull machine the X feels like a generation ahead. I hate the screen though but a lot of people like them so what do I know.

It’s far too expensive though but it is a whole generation ahead in how it feels.

Sounds shit. And they look terrible.

You should post that review on Twitter - likely Tesla-ites will hunt you down and kill you.

I like that Musk is trying to shake up the industry but just seeing the Rich Rebuilds 'X' purchase failure, the build quality on the cars, that hideous un-tactile screen on the '3' and the stories of piss poor customer service, the whole thing has more than a whiff of 'Apple' about it. Emperors new clothes maybe.

It’s a big heavy lump and it went better than the S, I’d have guessed the midrange (overtaking power) would be more blunted than it was.

Sums up my experience in the same. Shonky, quick and dull. Pass.

I frequently use Teslas from Schipol airport to our offices in Amsterdam and they're not ageing well. Very manky inside and the comment about there seeming to be space in the wrong areas is spot on, that's exactly how it feels inside.

They’re like airplane seats imo, loads of space above and underneath but not much in front!

A mate has one. The interior feels like a theme park ride to me; very superficial. And the doors are pointless and would piss me off after a day.
