I nearly turned that off when they spoke about the 250 being put back into drums. I know fook hall about this specific model, but it smacks of reversing a genuine driving upgrade in the pursuit of originality for a garage queen. Meh.

That sounds wonderful. The visual speed of the car does not match up with the sound which is quite amusing.

I obviously had to watch that straight away. I haven't had any C6 generation A6s because I don't like them but I've had C5 S6 saloon, a couple of C7 Allroads and a C8 S6 so I'm obviously a bit of a fan.

Never noticed the structural rigidity of the C5 being lacking but mine was a saloon of course; maybe the extra hole in the shell made all the difference. I was a massive fan of the C7 and I still think it's the best looking, and the interior may now be dated (I felt that when I changed cars last year) but I suspect it'll be seen as a bit of a classic design inside and out as time passes.

The C8 platform is an evolution of the C7 rather than a total change like the C5-C6-C7 which may explain why it's not such a massive step, but for me living with it, it does drive better than a C7. The steering is better, there's less understeer and it controls its mass better. Subtle improvements but they move it from being something you respect to something which gets under your skin. I don't think it looks as good as a C7 and the interior quality is poorer (there are squeaks from the dash in all C8s I think) but I would now have a C8 over a C7 after plenty of miles in both.
