OK, it's really just a promo video for collectingcars, and the runout "VF" had around 200bhp more than my "VE", but this still brings back strong VXR8 nostalgia. 8-) Resale values are still strong though, and there are very few manual VF's in the UK, so I doubt I'll ever get another.....

Barely any for sale at all now. Used to be a decent selection....can't imagine they're perceived well enough to be in mothballed collections so I suspect many have been written off

I *still* tell people how good my VXR8 was - still one of my top 3 most fun cars. Mad to think I paid under £11k for mine at the time.

TBH I still don't know how I tolerated 7k a year at 16mpg average though

Mat Watson channelling Mark Tortolano in the latest Carwow video (E63 v M3) at about 3M 54s:

Ironically when I did a frame-by-frame analysis he did actually jump the first start.

New lap record for a GT3 at Mt Panorama. Albeit an “unrestricted” GT3 - I haven’t looked into what that means (other than presumably no intake restrictor)

Love this track - so technical, and so punishing of errors.

I’m assuming considerable previous for jail + 10 year ban!

I think that's the longest ban I've seen for someone who didn't kill.

Excellent info Tim. I wonder if he was pissed when he did that old E30 drift video?

Just a quicky, but this must be one of the last times they used the full Mulsanne straight (ie prior to the addition of the 2x chicanes (in 1990?)). Approx 3.5 miles devoured in around a minute of constant full throttle. (Longer at full beans for slower cars of course :? )

Filmed on a contemporary potato.

I still have a copy of that. The file date is 2007 but I suspect it was before that.

Very clean lap, flat at 300kph through The Chase at the end of Conrod straight is just... Monstrous. Unrestricted intake and exhaust, wonder how much extra power it had over a BOP'd car. Maybe a different DRS system too? ~6s faster than this year's pole time.

Ford's E-Transit thing with 2000hp was there last weekend too but it didn't do an official time although it's doing another run end of Feb.

I still find Skyline into the Esses - with its 3 distinct braking phases phases on of the trickiest corner sequences anywhere (on sim obvs). :geek:

Funnily enough went to a mates place on Sunday who had setup Assetto Corsa with Bathurst (and a bunch of nice mods) to play while watching the race. I recon the sim captures the effect on the car balance of those dramatic climbs but the visuals just can't.

Some day I'll get there for one of the rare "trackdays" that are run. Although even at road speeds those walls are scary!

It was running around 650bhp vs 520bhp in the BOP GT3. The restrictors on the GT3 are a barely bigger than a garden hose! Also had a DRS rear wing, more aero and straight piped exhausts. It was epic.
