So nearly 5 years after the event, some fishermenblokes are stating that they saw it go down, and know where it is.... :?

It would be great if it were true - families might get some closure - but the report doesnt suggest why they might have chosed to keep that info to themselves for so long.... :?:

Just to play devils advocate, who’s to say an Indonesian fisherman was exposed to any of the publicity surrounding the crash or the search, and would he necessarily know there was any mystery outstanding the crash that required witnesses?

It is odd though.

He possibly reported it to local law enforcement and never heard anything back, wasn't aware of the kerfuffle and figured the authorities would sort stuff out.

I've never been to any part of South East Asia where pretty much everyone isnt dialled in so it would seem odd. Let's see how this unfolds.

I guess it depends on whether he was one guy in a rowing boat and a raggedy net, or the skipper of a $1m trawler

There are a number of easy questions which don’t seem to be answered in that article such as has anyone searched that area already?

Perhaps the fishermen were stoned at the time and they've only just realised what they saw.

No debris washed up on any of the shores nor was seen by the fuck-load of ships on the main route between the Indian and Pacific oceans!? Sounds likely.

Also, the known flight path went over the Straits of Malacca and up to the Andaman Islands before contact was lost.
