Person: “Can we meet on Tuesday?”

Me: “Sorry, I’m not available Tuesday or Thursday. How about Wednesday?”

Person: “Can’t do Wednesday, how about Thursday?”

Me: “No, I can’t do Thursday. I’m only available Monday, Wednesday or Friday”

Person: “How about Tuesday?”

I'm assuming the question posed in the thread title is one of those new-fangled rhetorical ones?

Just a suggestion, but maybe Re-arrange your days and go out of your way to meet on the day that they can do? Then make sure in no uncertain terms they know this and they owe you one and get them on the back foot. That way you can get more from them than they can from you.

Carl.

I’m guessing by the idiocy in the first post this is someone trying to buy something off Rev.

I'm just going to use this post as dumping ground from now on.

Half of my team have been working overnight (10pm to 6am) decommissioning our old office and migrating the last few services out of the old server room there.

Marketing User walks into our area.

MU: "Is [John] around?"
Me: "No, he's not in today as he was working overnight, anything I can help with?"
MU: "I sent him an email earlier about getting a new laptop bag. It's really urgent, can you call him?"
Me:

Me: "I'll get him to have a look when he's back in tomorrow"

Where's your sense of customer service? Poor MU needs a laptop bag right now!

It's neither stupidity nor awkwardness though right? Just another self-entitled prick who thinks you're gonna call someone and probably wake them up in the middle of the day when they've pulled an all-nighter just because they think that a laptop bag is 'important'. He probably bashed Brannen's car too.

I once had an area manager tell me to call a sales person back in to work after I had told him he was off due to his Mrs having a miscarriage through the night. I knew the company was full of sociapathic cunts but that was a new standard. I told the AM to bugger off and after he shouted at me for 5 minutes I offered the lads (15 stone middle wight boxer) phone number so he could call him in. At that point he declined and made another manager come in. I do not miss retail.

Night and day different to how I got treated at my place when we lost ours back in November. It was very much "See you when we see you, take all the time you need. If you want anyone to cover anything just let us know."

And I work for a US based internet company. Even other employers in our industry aren't as sympathetic to their staff.

A: is such and such in today?
Me: no, they’re out on holiday and we’re understaffed so haven’t got cover
A:
Me:
A:
Me:
A: do you work on that project?
Me: no you need to speak to the person who’s out the office
A: well I just need to know [insert really specific project detail] by [insert massively unrealistic deadline]
Me:
A: can you please follow up on that request
Me: sorry, I literally know nothing about what’s going on with that project
A: can’t you call someone or speak to a few people?
Me: like who?
A: I don’t know
Me: good, so you know as much as I do
A: sends out email saying I am now responsible for the action
