Today’s want
Re: Today’s want
I remember MarkBT_52 taking me round Donington in his Exige, bonkers. Only thing I've passengered in that was quicker was a 340R!

Re: Today’s want
Well, the DTM is supercharged, so 200+bhp more, and can do 200mph and 60 in < 4s. So there is that.
Same basic engine as some others though, albeit retuned: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes- ... Kompressor
Left over crest; tightens.

The picture reminds me those Alfa circular alloys are some of the most beautiful designs ever.

A 90s early 2000s Bmw 3l engine would have been 200-230bhp though ?integrale_evo wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 11:24 amBecause it was designed in the 70sRich B wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 6:52 ampretty, but how does it make so little power out of so many litres?Coaster1 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 6:31 am

Those GTV go really well and are a right handful drive. The oddest driving position i have ever come across, i couldnt get remotely comfortable.
ETA- The advert is wrong as they were 230bhp.
Re: Today’s want
was the 3.2 around 230bhp? Equally pathetic for something supposed to be a special version.Carlos wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 11:40 amA 90s early 2000s Bmw 3l engine would have been 200-230bhp though ?

It was on purpose so you could be on the loud pedal for longer and listen to that glorious V6
Not like new cars nowadays where after 3 seconds of throttle you’re banned from driving.

Re: Today’s want
The 24v 3.0 was 220ps (vs 230 for the BMW 3.0 of that era) and the 3.2 was 240ps. 75ps/litre is just normal, really. It was hardly an M3 competitor (nor was it M3 money).Rich B wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 12:43 pmwas the 3.2 around 230bhp? Equally pathetic for something supposed to be a special version.

A mid 80s 2.5 version of a 70s BMW straight 6 made 170bhp odd, a 2001 BMW 2.2 straight 6 made 170bhp ish.
My mid 90s 3.2 straight 6 BMW made 316bhp...

156gta wasn't far off m3 money was it?
I love how they look and probably would have bought one years ago if they had another 70bhp and were rwd.

Re: Today’s want
So you’re saying that engines that didn’t set the contemporary record for highest specific output for a production engine had a lower specific output than engines that did? I, for one, am shocked at this news. Shocked.

Anyway, the Firebird I want makes 34bhp/litre. Beat that for pathetic output
