Idiots with auto-lights in fog

Freezing for here over the last couple of days.

It’s bright though, so wifey’s F-Pace thinks lights aren’t needed. Which seems fair. Have to put them on manuelly.

The number of new cars with no lights or DRLs only is shocking. And they are totally unaware.

It’s because your dash is lit up like a Christmas tree even when your lights are off. In the old days, when you couldn’t see your speedo (other swimwear is available), it was a good reminder to stick your lights on.

We said this year's ago on the old forums, the more you automate systems the less drivers will monitor themselves. It's a scary number of cars driving on DRLs at night these days, and I guarantee most are totally unaware the rear lights aren't on..

We had fog in the NW this morning, and the same idiots who gave it no thought to check their lights were on.

Don’t know why all manufacturers don’t just use the Scandinavian method of having the dipped beams on at all times. More visibility can only be a good thing and it mitigates the risk of idiots who forget to turn them on.

You said something sensible! Is that one of the signs of the Apocalypse?

Probably one of the two kids he watched Wonder Woman with posting on his behalf.

But you're going back to the 80s, they don't do it anymore. They have drls like all the rest.

I still have absolutely no idea why the regulation introduced which required all new cars to have drls didn't require them to be linked to the rear lights.

Sadly this is true. Although you can easily have it coded so that the rears come on with the DRLs too.

This. Whatever idiot thought that one up should be fired. Equally why the manufacturers didn't just decide to do front and rear is beyond me.

Oh come on - DRLs are brilliant. I especially like them switching off to let the way less bright indicators having a go. Not confusing at all :D
