Curtains

Is there a real reason they're expensive, or is it like weddings where otherwise simple things get massively marked up just because ?

My wife enquired at a local curtain shop about a pair of curtains for the main bedroom here. It's not an unusually big window or anything, about 6' wide by 4' high.

£967.20

Whaaaat ?

You're paying for the 'handmade' service, I bought a large pair of curtains off Amazon for £20 and they are perfectly good at keeping light out and looking as presentable as rucked up material can.

Thankfully we found someone who can get branded fabric dirt cheap and makes them herself. I think we pad £250 for a set for the lad's bedroom and a huge set for our bay.

If you can find someone local that makes them that's the best route - this is where our material came from clicky. They manufacture for John Lewis, Scion and various other big names

I paid about £300 for the same size (Blackout) from a local Supplier.

£900 odd seems way too expensive...

We got curtains from Yorkshire Linen online last year. Perfectly serviceable and a tenth of that price for a similar size window. They now look a bit second-hand after being climbed by three kittens fairly extensively, so I'm glad we didn't pay more.

Thank goodness for for blinds, otherwise it'd be curtains for all of us.

Our bay window ones, heavy fabric and blackout, bendable runners and installation was £1300.

Perfectly fitted curtains is a real joy.

I think we spent about £2200 for the living room curtains and roller blinds with covers for the playroom.

I also got excited about our robot vacuum which has changed my life 8-)

Dave!

Ps, it also appears I’ve grown a vagina at the same time.

Ha, I hadn’t even thought of the Pole angle 😂 That’s also a penis euphemism.
