Going to Abingdon (MSE £135) on Fri 7th Dec, and Bedford (Javelin £89) on Monday 10th Dec. Anyone interested?

Too short notice for me sadly (and will have exceeded my 'days out doing car stuff' quota for the month). Abingdon in Feb/Mar could be good.

Just spotted this. I'll be at Abingdon tomorrow in a blue Elise as I live 10mins away. Come say hi!

Arrr, won’t be there tomorrow because of bad weather

Hopefully visiting next spring.

A few of us will be at Bedford on Monday if you’re free.

Well to be fair it was very very wet for the first half. I’ve never done a properly wet track day before so it was quite an eye opener. The Elise is much more snappy in the wet. I started to build some confidence and then promptly spun it, unsurprisingly. Nice place to learn and play though.

The afternoon was like a different day. The track mostly dried out and I got back in the groove with the Lotus. I went a little too long in the last session as the sun was setting and I was in a nice rhythm with it but got away with it.

Have a great time on Monday.

I didn’t know you were going Duncs. I was —> <— that close to taking the day off to come and be passenger seat ballast for people.

How was the 7?
YK, how was it with the GT3 compared to Rockingham? Pushing it more now?

I stopped posting about my tale of 7 woe, because it was becoming dull for everyone else and has been a painful experience for me! :) I think it's ok now.

It didn't let me down today although the day wasn't completely trouble free for me: I got a noise warning on the drive-by (despite being way under on the static), so I put the decibel slayer on which put me in the clear but that created its own issues. It must have made the exhaust a lot hotter because it melted the bottom of the rubber surround to the cf protector on the rear arch, and at the end something was rattling in my silencer can which I'll need to investigate. I also sense that between the slayer and airbox I am down a chunk of power.

Anyway, all that aside I did really enjoy the day. I was obviously monumentally slow for the most part, but it was satisfying when I managed to get corners right here and there. Once the tyres are warm the grip is face-adjustingly good, and the car felt really good and faithful in general, I love the way every small input can be felt clearly and understood in relation to what the car is doing, it communicates so well.

I didn't go for tuition this time because I didn't do too many laps and I felt I just wanted to do things at my own pace and learn the track. I'm keen to go again and get some tuition now that I'm getting a feel for it, and I'm sure that will massively improve my pace and enjoyment.

Oh, and the car went through fuel very quickly on track!

YKs GT3 is fantastic, I'm sure he'll update on it, but I think his confidence is growing. It certainly felt quick from the passenger seat, the noise is something else! 8-) I don't think many or even any cars were quicker round there today.

Great to catch up with Duncs and others. I had a very good day. :)

My car failed static but the marshal allowed me on track. On my second lap I had my first ‘noise board’, which would become the theme of the day. I think I ended up about five, even with me changing up at 7k than 8.2k.

Got more confident as the day progressed, but had a big spin in late afternoon and damaged one of the brake cooling ducts

Very good today, still a few areas to improve but I was pleased with my progress. It was my third visit to Bedford so I knew the circuit well enough that I could just focus on my driving.

Ignoring the fact that you don't want to post about what was wrong with it, can you please post about what was wrong with it? :D
