Ebay and alcohol strike again  . Just back from a mammoth trip to collect.

70's/80's, kinda retro/kitsch, 3.0 V6 in an unusual state of tune. Nothing to do with hovercraft ;)

Pics tomorrow morning :D

My Dad is selling his Scimitar soon [/quickplug]

Ebay & booze means we're not talking big money (I hope !), so not a Capri.

Cortina ?

Oh, and is the 3.0 V6 a misdirection, that engine was not originally fitted to the car ?

Ste's Viva in his dreams

I am being a bit mean here, and I think the likelihood of anyone guessing is pretty low (all barking up entirely the wrong tree!). Think playboy accessory....chestwig and gold medallion...

Oh, and I never said it was a car....

Yes, it's a boat. More specifically, it's a jet boat :D . With an Essex V6. It's called a "Dateline Bikini", which conjures up images of Brut and sexual exploitation. And it's mostly complete!
On the negative side, there's no interior and the engine needs attention. On the plus side, the impeller/jet unit has just been refurbished, the hull is absolutely solid, all the electrics have just been done, and it comes with a proper Snipe trailer (worth £3-400 on its own). Best of all, it was only £800!

Truth be told, I have no real interest in owning a boat (or at least I didn't until about 10 minutes before the auction ended last Sunday!). I had originally thought I rip the V6 out, rebuild it and sell it separately (marine versions are quite rare and sell for £800+ on their own), then drop a modern-ish turbo diesel in it (e.g. BMW 530D lump). However, the boat has turned out far nicer than I was expecting, and ones with original engines are like hen's teeth, so I think I'll be keeping it, probably with the addition of a Merc SLK supercharger (if its out anyway and getting rebuilt... ;) )
I have now also been donated a period interior - not sure what out of, but a couple of lightweight, fairly skinny buckets and a rear bench. Will get it all re-trimmed in blue and white oilskin for £50 an item.

So yes, I put my hands up, it was a silly purchase. But I'm gonna have a whole lot of fun playing with that engine (especially if I can drag 200-220 bhp out of it with the s/c), and playing about on the Firth of Forth a couple of times (there's a slipway about 2 minutes from my house). All fixed up and working, I reckon I'll flog it for £3k+ in early summer.
