Joking apart that is very surprising to hear. I think he's an absolute natural.
So it wasn’t quite as good as what’s universally renowned as one of the best handling FWD cars of all time?Barry wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 11:00 pm I drove the Clio 182 Cup quite a lot, while I owned the DC2 (did I mention that?) and I must be missing something as it just felt like huge grip and growly midrange to me, nowhere near the adjustable chassis the teggy has. Huge fun to throw down a B road don't get me wrong, and no doubt same pace in real world terms, but just not as engaging for me.
I actually rate the 106Gti higher, that was a sublime little car.
Correct. I would add that I put it behind the 106GTi that wasn't even included in that test, but what would I know I'm not a fancy pants motoring journo.scotta wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 11:33 pmSo it wasn’t quite as good as what’s universally renowned as one of the best handling FWD cars of all time?Barry wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 11:00 pm I drove the Clio 182 Cup quite a lot, while I owned the DC2 (did I mention that?) and I must be missing something as it just felt like huge grip and growly midrange to me, nowhere near the adjustable chassis the teggy has. Crap steering. No one says thisBarry wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 11:00 pm I drove the Clio 182 Cup quite a lot, while I owned the DC2 (did I mention that?) and I must be missing something as it just felt like huge grip and growly midrange to me, nowhere near the adjustable chassis the teggy has. One of my friends had an early 106xsi a that was a fabulous little car to hurl down a B-road. It was a little cracker!Barry wrote: ↑Sat Feb 16, 2019 12:37 amCorrect. The 182 was one of the cars I tried after the Saxo VTS ( same as a 106gti to all intents and purposes ) but I couldn't really get on with the seating position. Felt like I was sitting on it rather than in it. Like Barry, I'm not a motoring journo either - preferred the supercharged Cooper S even though it wasn't as quickBarry wrote: ↑Sat Feb 16, 2019 12:37 amCorrect.
