fair point - they're already asking crazy money for them. Theres 30 or so on PH, most pushing £100k.Jobbo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 1:18 pmI suspect they might be now - the last 911s which used the original body (OK, not the original original swb) so quite a few will have been modified to backdate them. I doubt anyone will be adding impact bumpers or 964 plastic valances to a bare shell in the future so a decent 964 will become rarer and rarer.

Blimey - cheapest coupe is £80k and there are only a few cabs and a Targa below that - I guess the open ones don't make such a a good basis for a restomod. I had no idea they'd gone up so much.

Re: Harry’s Garage
They were about £60k for anything half decent when I last looked a few years ago and realised I was unlikely to ever own one.
Cheers, Harry
Re: Harry’s Garage
A friend of a friend had one for years - he bought it at around £10-15k and I remember him saying that he was using it less because it was then (must have been 2015ish) worth about £40k and he was concerned about damaging it.
Re: Harry’s Garage
I looked at a couple in 2005 when I bought my E46 M3 for £17,500.
£15k would have bought a decent C2 and £25k would have bought an RS
They all leaked oil and few had air conditioning so never going to be as usable daily!

Re: Harry’s Garage
Was it Dickie Meaden who bought one back in the day just before the values went crazy?
Cheers,

Black one IIRC. They use to rib him about it never being used and nicknamed it the unicorn as it was never seen other than in folklore.
Re: Harry’s Garage
I’m pretty sure they were cheap at the time as they lacked oil like mad and it was normal to need a full rebuild to fix the leaks and the blowby by by then.
The 993 was a big step forward with regards to a daily.
Dave!

I'm sure you don't all need a link, but even though I played most of it at 1.25x speed, and some at 1.5x speed - I still enjoyed the sleuthing.
Re: Harry’s Garage
From the outside this looks like a bit of a fighty traction nightmare, but it seems the clevertronics pretty much deal with it for you....
But will @Rich B be "meh" or will he get all frothy? I guess we'll have to wait and see.....

Re: Harry’s Garage
Black paint and silver wheels does wonders for the looks. I am sure it's interesting to drive, but I really can't see that it'd be much fun to live with in that state of tune. A standard M2 in black with silver alloys would be plenty.
Re: Harry’s Garage
The black really hides all of the "interesting" design choices which get highlighted with a light colour. Looks surprisingly good with the sliver alloys too. All of the recent M cars I've driven seem to have a really good balance of power v traction for their respective size & weights, so I do wonder how something like that would be to drive all year round in the uk.

I'll be watching this later...! Though I do like the sound of 640bhp...
