Shaved Toby today as his fur gets to a certain length and starts to turn into one big dreadlock.

It’s a real struggle as he hates having it done. Managed to ping something in my back doing it so currently sat in agony, but the cute puppy makes it a little easier

6! When there's that much I always start thinking how could it be used rather than binned - I've not come up with an answer :( If you could spin some to make it knittable you could make a small Toby toy stuffed with his own hair, but it would probably need more than you'd think and take years to collect enough.

A dog toy stuffed with dog hair? You must be mad, the less hair in the house the better!

We hoover twice a day and the Roomba goes around twice a day, 30 minutes after hoovering it looks like you haven’t done it.

A Hutch Update, turns out he now wants to dominate all dogs when out with Cooper, so that’ll be a load more training directed at him then, silly tit. His way of dominance is to launch in the air, land 4 square and deeply growl while putting his head over theirs. This gives the obvious reaction from the dog and understandably owners.

I think he has a personality disorder because the rest of the time he just wants hugs and food.

I hope Hutch can be regressed (for want of a better description).

At some point I'll talk about my out-of-control-dogs encounter a couple of weekends back, but first;

I'm really struggling to find a good vet, finally snapped and told the last one to fuck off last month.

:( Was that a "high street" vet or a commercial/farming one (thinking of the goats, I've no idea if there are different vets for different purposes)?

High street vet, my dog was having a check up a few months ago and he had scratched his eye around the same time. The vet just casually said "it looks like a very deep scratch and we must remove the eye." I go to an eye specialist but they must have a referral. Go back to the bitch vet and ask for a referral who eventually and with reluctance refers my dog to the eye specialist. Go to eye specialist and "it's just a tiny scratch and irritated." Get some eye drops and go.
At this point I was already done with the original vet, but having a pet plan I called to collect the flea medication which I'm paying £20 a month for. Nope won't give it unless I bring the dog for another checkup. At which point I tell the receptionist that I don't trust taking my dog to the fucking useless vet who wanted to unnecessarily remove my dog's eye.

Previous vet before that my dog had run a bit too much and done a sudden turn and pulled something, kept saying he needed an operation on his leg but he recovered fine after a month
Another vet on another occasion said he needs an operation on his tear ducts because they're blocked which is causing staining round his eyes. But that's just a thing with that breed of dog and not something you operate for.

Goats require livestock vets which are quite hard to find as most of them are set up for large farms, rather than someone keeping a few goats as a pet. Eventually found one but not needed to use them so far.

The days of vets all being animal lovers is definitely over.

Our previous Vet wouldn’t let me pick up flea and working because of Covid, as it wasn’t essential and I had some already. When I went in for an issue with his leg which was taking a while to heal. At the same time I asked for the medication we had paid for monthly and she laughed and said I was far too late and couldn’t get it now. So I made a scene and then cancelled the direct debit and asked for all my animals paperwork and left.

The new vets was started by a guy who used to treat my dog and was lovely. Sensible, understood different diets, had built up a good team and it was funded by a lady who hated big vet groups.

So previously we had to pay £15 per x ray picture, the new place did 30 as he says it’s only a mouse click.
The old place wanted to do an expensive tear duct operation on my cat and missed a couple of issues she had. They also kept telling me my dogs were overweight as they went by a chart, not the pictures on the wall showing them to be in the perfect weight range by body composition.
No weekend cover so you had to use a terrible out of hours vet, despite there being a vet and nurses in the practice overnight anyway.

A good vet is very hard to find.

A dog got out of its house whilst my wife was out walking Toby and missy. Thankfully it only got a chance to have one lunge before she managed to get between them and the other dog immediately backed off and its owners grabbed it.

Apparently Toby was trying to go at it and missy also had a good go at it.

Anyway, he’s only got a small wound on the back of his ear, it doesn’t look too bad in person, because of the white fluff it looks horrendous in a photo  stuck some doggy antiseptic on it and will keep an eye on it, it’s obviously sore because he has a little yelp when you touch it, but other than that he’s business as usual.
