Absolute bollocks. The M3/4 has 370mm discs. 18inch is over 450mm.

That's one of the reasons that the current M140i appealled to me. It'll soon be a transverse 4 with front or x-drive and a whole heap less desirable

It is monumentally stoopid.
As noted recently. Helped SIL buy a 118i recently. Which is a 1.5 turbo. Of course.

Are we already back round to going through the whole history of incorrect BMW naming strategy?
Wife likes the X2. I don't dislike it apart from it a) being an SUV therefore turd and 2: it having rubbish drivetrain options (fwd and low power petrols).
Ergo this seems like a promising compromise. SUrprised it's not Xdrive though, given that the current top diesel engined models are

Or maybe just turd reporting

Most people will understand the hierarchy of the model range (bigger number = it being more betterer

) but most people couldn't give a fuck what's under the bonnet because they treat cars like white goods.
Several people have asked me if my car is a 4ltr.

I spotted a lease deal on a new shape Audi A6 40TDI the other day. Assuming that 40 must mean it was the 3.0 V6 TDI, I was surprised to find it's actually the new name for the 2.0TDI. So I don't think alternative naming conventions are any better.

Isn't there some truly horribly complex equation for how Audi name their cars now? Or was that a joke that I didn't get?

i remember you talking about that a while ago - I donβt think itβs found itβs way here yet, but it did sound ridiculous!
