Running with an MOT? Bargain!
Yep not until end of May but will have 6 month extension, might get it done anyway though.

I'm planning on using this a road rally car and doing some stuff with Ilkley Motor Club, might do some rallying if I can get a cheap cage for it!
:D 8-) Would you have to remove the glass roof for rallying?

Galaxy back from being repaired. It has been washed (ish), but is otherwise like it was before.

Just need the new car seats which did ship today or tomorrow and we're back to normal.

Delivery guy took the Mini back. It was a Mini Cooper Classic, manual petrol. Was okay to drive, but didn't feel very special. Interior quality was better than the usual Citroen/Hyundai/Kia hire cars I've had before and everything worked well enough, but didn't live up to the brand I think.

Picking the Mini up tommorow, 200 quid for a years insurance! Pleasantly surprised as I've no ncb to put on its policy.

Will probably sorn it after a couple of months if lockdown doesn't lift.

Found some Compomotive wheels I quite like on ebay and I've spoke to my friend I go rallying with and hes speaking to Prepfab when hes next there to see how much they'll do a cage at mates rates for 8-)

What’s wrong with the wheels on it?

They're some 17'' chav tat, lacquer looks to be peeling from them all, I'll stick em on ebay and see what I get for them.

Standard Mini wheels would do tbh, the ones on it really cheapen the look imo.

What were the standard mini steelies? They’re the only car where the steel wheels always appeared bigger then the model up alloys

Looks like the steel wheels are 15's which won't clear the calipers of the brakes I'll be putting on it sadly.

Maybe the wheels on it will look better in person, we shall soon see!

If you’re going rallying, factor in the cost of tyres. I’ve changed down from 16” to 15” for that exact reason, and I’ve got a set of M3 brakes I’ll probably never use now because they need 17” wheels.

I'll probably end up with 16 inch R56 Cooper S wheels as they're light and strong and fit over the brakes, cheap to replace as well.

I've got quite a stock of 225 45 17s in the garage which would be fine on tarmac (Yokos and Contis) but I think they will be too chunky to fit.

2006 Mini Cooper with JCW kit, a non functional sunroof and a gearbox noise, 70k miles, 350 quid.

I'm not sure if it will be the box, might be a wheel bearing as this is a late 6 speed r53 and the gearbox is pretty unburstable usually, but I'll see when I pick it up.

If it does need a gearbox repair, at least it will give me something to do!
Nice purchase.

Coincidentally me and my GF are looking at buying an R53 cooper s as a fun road car project and maybe for track use too. Might look at autosolos/targas (or whatever it is that SJ does). Although being in Cumbria, there doesn't seem to be much locally!

Picked up and driven home.

Feels peppier than I thought it would, but I've not been driving it hard until I know where the noise is from, slight clicky/tapping noise from the NSF on or off power in all gears, doesn't change note, same in all gears.

CV Joint or diff I reckon, more likely diff related though, doesn't change with direction, does if clutch dipped.

No noise at idle.

No suspension knocks or bangs and seems to handle well, has standard 'Super Sport' suspension as an option, Chili Pack with half leather sport seats, panoramic roof has been sealed up due to leaks so does actually work so I'll look into that a bit more.

The car has been serviced locally by its previous owner at a Mini specialist, and at Mini before that for every service!

Massive pole of receipts, previous owner paid £3k a year and a bit ago for it!

Just had new front and rear discs and pads, new radiator, new thermostat, new battery and a pair of new ditchfinders.

Will look into selling the number plate as it's not its original, if I get 250 for it then it will pay for the gearbox reconditioning!

whats the plate? (So we can laugh at your optimism, whilst applauding the absolute steal you got with the car!)
