No snap? Missed sponsorship opportunity there.

Dropped the car at the specialist for MOT and service (for the history file) whilst we went away for a couple of days.

Owner is away on hols, so was dealing with his main man.

Got a call to explain that - as I probably knew - the handbrake wasn’t working on one side?

> no - I thought it was good

Yeah well the nearside was all stuck - actuator arms - had to put new shoes on and free up the arms, so your total plus the MOT will be £x

> erm. Remind me - was it just an oil service this year or more?

You want a service done too? It wasn’t booked in for a service.

> erm. It was. Remember I said don’t touch the brake fluid as it’s just been done as track prep*

<pause>

Shit - is that you mik?

> Yeah

Shit - ignore everything I just said. I meant to phone someone else. YOUR car is fine - passed first time.

> Hahahaha  (whilst thinking - thank fuck he’s not a doctor  )

* ScottA and I did both cars before Anglesey with Motul RF660 with his pressure bleed system 8-)

A quickie on a Sunday morning.

I had some H7 LEDs left over from (I think) the Vito so figured I’d try them in the Disco. The usual difference in colour was observed. Much better match to the xenons.

The main thing I like is the instant turn on when flashing people.

But they just highlight the difference to the fogs, which are H11 and I don’t have any in stock.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that. You need to remove the grille & headlights but it takes literally seconds and requires no tools.

There’s a lot of very neat design on these cars. And then some shocking reliability to balance it out 🤣

The other thing is that the LEDs didn’t trigger any warnings on the dash. 👍 I thought. But it does log an error code. So the car knows there’s a fault but doesn’t tell the driver. Rolleyes.

@mik - Glad that story turned round near the end, was expecting a real horror story the way it was going!

Weather is a bit crazy today but first drive with those all terrain tires on twisties with lots of standing water was very promising, feels pretty assured. Rear wheel steer is also one of those options I never knew I needed, but the turning circle at low speed is incredible and I do feel the difference corning at speed compared to the GTS, although I guess there's other things different between the two models so it might just be a wrong assumption on that one.
Cheers,

Mike.

35 miles along the A303/M3 from Andover to Camberley. I don’t believe this for a second. Utter BS 🤣

Did you ever post photos of your interior retrim? Please do so if not!
I did post an Instagram link by the trimmer showing before and after.

My car is plain white. I think the liveries look cool on a race, but am happy to have a plain car.

There is this livery from the 1974 rally cars which I would also not have, but would these two elements break up the WHITE of it all a bit?

Or should I just leave well alone?

Enjoy it as it is.

Or go off-piste with a non-Porsche livery:

I would definitely have the stripe. If you tire of it it is the work of a moment to remove it.

You'll clearly need to do a poll to resolve this!

No livery. You just look like a rally driver that's got lost. Keep it white, it looks ace 8-)

I think I’d I wanted to break up the white my first step would be to get the wheels painted silver.

If I fancied a stripe I’d probably go for something retro inspired rather than a direct copy of an old one.

I think there’s enough going on not to need anything tbh.

I'm trying to imagine that car with any 'livery' on it, anywhere north of Inverness and it not looking immensely dumb in context, and it's just not happening.

White car with white alloys looks cool as can be to me. The black addenda of the Dakar just sets it off. Oh, get it dirty!

I do find it a bit odd that you guys all have such an issue with a stripe - particularly when its a limited run special Porsche sold the from the factory with decals (and as Mike said, most buyers went for it).

Do you guys have the same issue with stripes on 458 speciale, 488 Pista, Lambos of all types?

I think for me it is the fact that its white. In another colour I wouldn't be so bothered but white to me is race car white and no livery at all is reminiscent of a car that's just been delivered and waiting to have its livery applied. Particularly in a car which is named and styled after a specific off road race...

Anyway - I seem to be in the minority (on here, not of owners, who as above - disagree).

I don't have an issue with it - stripes and liveries can look great (there is a white Integrale round here that I've posted a (bad) image of before that looks epic.

If you want a stripe - go for it. Regardless of whether I would or not.

edit: just make sure you don't create something that might make people assume you are a gumballer though. Aint nobody be wantin' that shizzle. :?

I was just interested in the opinions to be honest and very probably overthinking it. It's sitting outside the window just now and I think it looks fantastic, but did wonder if even the "Porsche" along the doors would add something, but probably not. There's a white ITR in the village which looks great and as we all know, it's simple - white & black with the tiniest bit of red on the logos.
Cheers,

Mike.
