Re: Your fleet running reports
Not that the mito is especially bad ( other than the high loading lip ) it's just the modern car thing, it amazes me how small the boot openings are on quite large cars.
I bet a metro has more load space as well as being able to take a larger single item than the mito despite looking minute next to it.
I know what I'd rather crash in though

You never heard of butter ?
Dave!
Re: Your fleet running reports
Good to see Harry using the now universally accepted standard for what fits in a boot, a ladder

I can’t believe it’s not heard of butter.V8Granite wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2020 6:32 amYou never heard of butter ?

Reinstated the original springs on The Compact to regain some ride height. Fitted new Meyle top mounts whilst there.
I also removed the passenger airbag. It's quite a big heavy lump, over 3kg.

I keep looking at compact's again, like some weird addiction you can't shake.
Just know I'll end up with one with the hideous sea of beige plastic dashboard

Re: Your fleet running reports
I had spotted that, it's been steadily increasing in price over the past couple of weeks. I'm sure it was 2250, then was definitely 2350 last time I looked, now 2500
Still think about sacking off the m3 and doing a proper m3 compact build, but seems a bit of a shame disposing of a whole m3 to do it.

That came as quite a surprise.Swervin_Mervin wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2020 12:41 pm @John I've just seen the Spotted for Sale on PH - you replacing with anything suitably as interesting?
Not sure on replacement but thinking of going more classic maybe, nothing in mind though.
Re: Your fleet running reports
I saw that yesterday - it was on PH's facebook feed. A car I'd like very much yet wouldn't use. Will you do a write-up after it's gone? I'd love to know whether adding power to an MX5 is a worthwhile thing to do.John wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2020 2:02 pmThat came as quite a surprise.Swervin_Mervin wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2020 12:41 pm @John I've just seen the Spotted for Sale on PH - you replacing with anything suitably as interesting?

Re: Your fleet running reports
I’d say the mx5 copes very well with the extra power (NC at least) and is very controllable, you do have to be careful not to just hoof it out of corners though. As for converting one I think I’d rather let someone else take the hit. I’ll see if I can string a few words together once it’s gone.

Didn’t click that it’s yours.John wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2020 2:47 pm I’d say the mx5 copes very well with the extra power (NC at least) and is very controllable, you do have to be careful not to just hoof it out of corners though. Re: Your fleet running reports
Only worth it if the M3's shell is totally rotten and beyond help. E36 M3s are worth decent money now as complete cars (as are E30 M3s, as I'm sure you know !!!) but I suspect the E36 value is largely down to the drift crowd wanting the engines.integrale_evo wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2020 1:11 pm Still think about sacking off the m3 and doing a proper m3 compact build, but seems a bit of a shame disposing of a whole m3 to do it.
MUCH better fun, and I know I'm a broken record on this front, is to get a serviceable Compact and come out for some low-budget rallying
Go Team OV9 !!
Edit - I assumed you meant the E36 M3 there. An S14 in a Compact would be 'kin awesome, but also financially crazy when E30s are so valuable. If that was your plan, put the E30 into a specialist auction and spunk the money on a top notch Compact build, plus money for events.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Yes, I was thinking s50, but an s14d compact was always the plan if I ever crashed the e30. That was back when they weren't worth very much, I can't imagine how many people it would annoy putting the running gear from one into the ugly stepbrother these days

Have you seen project Mpact on boatshoes? E46 M3 running gear in a compact. Quite serious engineering.

Nothing to report other than spilling my coffee in the car just now while enjoying the air conditioning.
Thankfully, I keep a couple of microfibre cloths kicking about the interior, and most of it landed - and stayed - in the gearshift gaiter.
Not my day today.
