It’s impressively bad. I tweeted them about it before. It’s so bad that I now won’t read anything on it due to the pop ups and adverts taking up 3 quarters of the screen. Not a professional site.

Yes, why not try a few and prove how bad they are rather than the sloppy daily mail journalism.

To be fair - they have done that in previous years non? With no surprises.

Very true. I had a discussion with my mate Bryan a couple of weeks back about him planning to fit £70 ditchfinders to his A5 20" wheels.

Looking at a new car for wifey, the Ditchfinders are not limited to private sales either, some main dealers with cars running total crap

And yet there are hundreds of thousands of cars on the road happily running around on ditchfinders managing to not throw themselves into the scenery at every opportunity.

Ditchfinders are fine if you never use anywhere near the capability of your tyres.

There was a post going round on our local Facebook pages, some lad had his E46 M3 stolen that was apparently his pride and joy (as you'd expect). One of the identifying features of his car was that he'd just fitted brand new Nankang tyres. Deserved to have it taken off him for that.

Which a substantial portion of which you have no control over if by "capability" you include water clearance, braking distances, etc.

I bet you it was also an early M3 running the later (and inferior looking IMO) 19inch wheels with consequently more expensive tyres

Imagine buying second-hand tyres. Well, you do so whenever you buy a used car. Just having a Michelin logo doesn’t mean they haven’t been run low on pressure, kerbed etc.

I personally have all 4 tyres sent back to the manufacturer for a full suite of non destructive testing, especially if they are under 3mm!


I will be replacing the 996's tyres with Michelin PS2's, - 295/30/18 rears btw, I fully intend visiting the factory and personally supervising the raw materials, the full process and the final QA inspections, doesn't everyone?
