Molly's Game

I actually really enjoyed this. Jessica Chastain is extremely easy on the eye, and played the role really well. I've always enjoyed movies that are narrated, e.g. like the one film Scorsese has made a ton of times, and for a long film the time passed just fun, again in no small part due to Ms Chastain and her ever-more-exposed and fulsome breasts. Watch it, it won't change your life but it'll pass 2 hours and 20 OK.

Game Over, Man

Cast of Workaholics play characters similar to those in Workaholics with different names to the ones in Workaholics and some other people from Workaholics also appear at times.

I loved Workaholics many times facially so was fine with all of that. Brain-out, gross-out comedy, infantile and stupid and so on and I was fine with all of that. Rhona Mitra is in it and am just goddamn fine with that.

If you have never seen or didn't like Workaholics, avoid because in terms of being a film in its own right, it sucks

Ready Player One

Overworn “going an a quest whilst finding personal growth” trope with a side dish of not-so-hidden moral message, all topped with a garnish of the good guy will always get the girl. Nicely made, enjoyed spotting many of the references (but probably missed loads), my 13 year old enjoyed it.

6 KITT scanners in the wrong place out of 10 just to spite JL.

Hated it.

Current there, Zed. I quite liked it. Good book too.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri

Watched last week, absolutely superb. The mix of characters, the story suitably dark but with some great humour.

Also I like a film that manages to squeeze in the use of the word cunt fairly frequently.

It was on Netflix and I remembered people saying good things about it.

I normally like a wall street movie but this one got my socialist hackles up . Focusing on one set of greedy bankers as some sort of heroes over another set of greedy bankers while almost completely ignoring all the people who were really damaged by the sub prime collapse. Just wasn't my cup of tea.

It explicitly didn't setup the protagonists as heros. Indeed, 'Mark Baum' has a real crises of conscience and confidence in the later half, and Ben Rickert's diatribe at the Brownfield pair in Vegas was the film trying to keep it's audiences' feet on the ground.

The film is simply trying to tell the story of what happened to these real bankers, with a little Hollywood artistic license here and there. And no-way did it completely ignore the people who were really damaged, as the exploration of the houses in the typical 'sub-prime' real estate area (part with the crocodile in the swimming pool) and follow-up scenes at the end showing people moving on having lost their homes. One wonders if perhaps you watched a different film?

I'd had a few beers when I watched it and you're not the first to say I might have missed something. I might give it another go at some point.

Interstellar: watched it again with my girlfriend over the weekend and got most of it. I wasn't paying attention the first time so didn't quite get the important bits. Not Nolan's finest movie but enjoyable nevertheless and makes you think about the future. The only thing annoyed me was McConaughey's redneck accent.

I've been meaning to rewatch Interstellar for some time. Oft-confirmed Nolan fanboy here but I wonder if it bears up to repeat viewing.

Aye, Interstellar and Dunkirk are the only Nolan movie I've only watched once. Might have a wee Nolan Season, it's been a while since I watched The Prestige as well.

The Death of Stalin: Loved it, would watch again. Indeed, have watched again. It's the blackest possible comedy with an excellent cast and a wonderful script. What's not to like? Just for JL, I give it 11 Kalashnikov-waving Marshal Zhukovs out of 10.

Interstellar is definitely worth a rewatch. I've seen it 4, maybe 5 times now. But also because I think the soundtrack really is one of Zimmer's absolute best.

And yes Zed, rewatch TBS when sober and report back!

Not compared to Inception. But then nothing compares to Inception in my closed-off little mind.

Seen Inception many times and it still blows me away. And the soundtrack is better than Interstellar's imo.

My all-time favourite film of all time. Must have seen it 50+ times.

Yeah it was great, although I'm biased as my fanboy hard on for Armando Iannucci probably rivals JL's Chris Nolan crush.
