The Movie Thread
Re: The Movie Thread
We saw The Lion King last night as it's the O/H's birthday today. 'Good but not great' was our collective review. I don't know if it's the voice cast, or the CGI, or the fact that I saw the original through a young person's eyes...
Maybe it's because I saw the trailer and the CGI blew me away, leaving me to expect a great film, or maybe it's because it's a remake in the most literal sense with little deviation from the original.
It stands by itself as a fine film, but that's it. Maybe they should've done a Lion King 2 rather than a remake of the original.

Fighting with my family lightweight but really enjoyable, although a shame they couldn't get Lena Headley to do a proper Norfolk accent.

Good musicals are good.
A Star is Born isn’t a musical, it is shit though. It’s a daytime TV movie with a big budget cast.

That's funny.
I watched with the missus and it didn't hold my attention. GaGa can sing as we all know, I thought Bradley Cooper was good as a singing Sam Elliott. It was a bit meh. She was infuriated that I didn't think it was the best thing ever. She's was all tears and snot by the end of it.
Some decent tracks in it to be fair though.

I wasn’t going to watch it, anyway, but I’m going to watch it even less now.McSwede wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 3:14 pmThat's funny.

The Invitation on Netflix. Had 88% on RT. Unbelievable crap, turned it off. Watch Coherence instead if you want a weird dinner party film.
Re: The Movie Thread
I keep going to watch the invitation and watching something else instead.
Coherence is amazing though, everyone should watch it.

Spider-man: Age Of Whatever the Current One Is Called.
MrsREV enjoyed it, the kids enjoyed it, I got a bunch of teenagers kicked out for constantly talking throughout the movie. At one point one of them actually said “shush, I might watch this bit” at one point.
Anyway, is it me or does Spidey not actually do much of anything useful in fights anyway? I also thought it was great that Tobey McGuire was a major character until I realised it was Jake Gyllenhaal.
It all seemed a bit “meh” after Endgame.

You take that back!!
Its a surprisingly great movie with some of the most convincing actors-being-rockstars I've ever seen in.
Cheers,

Re: The Movie Thread
Meh. Lady Gaga was better than I expected, I don't usually like Bradley Cooper but he made a convincing greasy alcoholic and I'll watch anything with Sam Elliot in it. It was melodramatic nonsense though.

Watched Green Book last night. It was superb, we really enjoyed it. Both lead performances were of the highest order. Will watch again.
