I’m abstaining after that complete mess of a year where I was cruelly defeated due to the Exige/Exiges debacle.

Yep, Rev won. There was an extra million points if your name was Dave and you bought a 911.

his name isn’t Dave, so he still wouldn’t have won.

Even factoring in the above average humidity in the car, does it qualify as a shed? Also, I'm sure you could bolster the resale value by describing it as a Zen water feature, designed to induce calm and tranquility in the passengers.

It’s a re-humidifier to combat the dryness created by air conditioning

Are there even truly shit cars any more?

I mean, even a £500 2004 Micra is unlikely to rot out from underneath you; try saying that for a 1994 Fiesta ten years ago :o

The Mito is far too modern and the Fiat has gone past shed and come out the other side as classic.

Beany is on the right track. Has anyone here bought a <£500 car recently ? Even <£1k ?

Colleague at work bought a 2006 Swift 1.5 a couple of years ago for some £400.

Its head gasket is going, but otherwise it's clean outside and and in (not due to him being precious with it, in the slightest) and other than a likely ignorance-related HG issue, it's been bob on.

His plan is to run it till it stops running, then replace it with something else that costs under a grand.

I bought a 2004 Accord with 200k on it 2 years ago for £900. I've had to replace the brakes and clutch, aside from that it's been completely reliable. I've done another 30k in it without a problem.
I'm amazed at how well cars last these days. As someone (Beany?) mentioned earlier, can you imagine a 1994 car with over 200k on it and still running perfectly?
