The Watches Thread
Re: The Watches Thread
I just think this type of strategy devalues the brand when CW have clearly done really well for themselves and have a loyal following.

I stumbled across this company the other day, 15% off your first order if you sign up to the newsletter. The code works on Omega watches too which is a decent saving plus 0% credit available.

Re: The Watches Thread
I’ve twice gone back to look at the Omega Aqua Terra World Timer there, John. I’m not going to buy it, but I am a massive fan.
Re: The Watches Thread
Nice...
If I could get this with a black accents and second hand, instead of the Orange, I'd almost be there...
As close a modern equivalent to my 1962 one - which is what I'm looking for
Re: The Watches Thread
I love the face on the Aqua Terra range, I used to have the chrono version and the slate face was stunning.

Re: The Watches Thread
Gone full Bark & Jack now, with my new strap on. Cue the NATO haters
Re: The Watches Thread
Yeah, that's pretty close Pete - I suppose I could just go with that and then get my own leather strap.Pete_ wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 12:28 pm https://www.omegawatches.com/en-gb/watc ... 0382002001

Re: The Watches Thread
Really like that Pete.
I don't think his NATOs are too overpriced. Nice keepers and buckle, good stitching.

Re: The Watches Thread
That’s very nice @Pete_
Re: The Watches Thread
Thanks I'm very happy with it I almost went for the NATO 2.0 strap which Jobbo (I think) has, it's a nice smooth fabric but for such a plain watch I think the ribbed fabric works well and is a nice contrast. The colour is listed as grey but to my eyes there's a bit of an olive tint to it.
Re: The Watches Thread
I have a storm grey Broad Weave - just looked and there are some rather gorgeous striped ones as well now.
Re: The Watches Thread
I'm not a huge NATO fan but the light grey works surprisingly well on that, it seems to lift the whole watch.
Re: The Watches Thread
I've been thinking about a new "good" watch for a while now, as sad as it sounds I sometimes feel a bit uncomfortable wearing my GMT Master due to every scrote and his dog seeming to know the value of them. In winter it isn't a problem as it's generally hidden under a sleeve but in summer it's a little more obvious.
I've always liked Omega and have owned a couple before so that was my choice, the recent Seamaster with the ceramic bezel and dial was at the top of my list. For some reason I've never liked the Seamaster bracelet, it just looked a bit dated compared to the rest of the watch so it had to be on a rubber strap. The next choice was the colour as it comes in black, blue, grey and now white. After a couple of visits to Goldsmiths to compare the colours I went with black. The white was extremely nice but went against the idea of the watch going under the radar a bit more.
A quick photo and as with all my watch photos it really does look much better in the metal (ceramic?)
I bought it from Pleasance and Harper as above, their service was great with next day delivery and really well packaged.

Re: The Watches Thread
That's really lovely John!
Great choice IMO
I've been looking at the 39mm Aqua Terras of late...

Re: The Watches Thread
Eh? I didn't like wearing my flashy expensive watch because people know it's expensive, so I bought a new flashy expensive watch instead.
As rationales go, that's right up there with the best evonomics.

Re: The Watches Thread
Yep, some people won't "get" my way of thinking but a black Omega on a rubber strap is far from flashy.
