It appears the entire cockpit will be “floating “ on future Mercedes.

I don't remember particularly disliking Merc interiors, though the C-class centre screen looked particularly like an iPad on an aftermarket mounting.
The upright steering wheel which Autocar excitedly notes from the sketches is going to be something special, I have no doubt

I think it was more the iPad-style displays that you didn't like - or am I mis-remembering?

Not per se, just the way some of them look like crap aftermarket mounts.
