Just read a post on the Lotus forum from a guy considering buying an Evora ‘cos he’s fed up with the promised delivery date for his new Griff moving ever backwards. Had a deposit down for 3.5yrs apparently.

As the concept seemed straightforward and the names invoked not completely unheard of (GME+Cosworth) it makes you wonder what shenanigans are happening behind the scenes to drag the whole thing out so badly.

It looks and sounds dreadful, and it seems the factory tendering issue was a bit of a shambles.

Bloke mentioned above - deposit down for 4yrs now and still no sign of a car - so bought this instead. They certainly aren’t rushing it to market.....

It’s a Cosworth fettled Ford engine though, so presumably TVR are buying it in rather than doing anything themselves?!*
* though that does seem an entirely too sensible solution for TVR.

From what ive read its a standard mustang block that cosworth did the intake for and the ECU map. But like when did that ever stop TVR saying their engine had more power than it actually did. Gt350 has this engine tuned and bored out to 5.2 litres with 526 bhp so same power to capacity ratio - they could probably just buy the Shelby crate engine in bulk for 5k but then the car would seem even more overpriced and less British without a “tuned by Cosworth” badge on it.
How about not having a sig at all?

When I was looking at engine swaps last year Coyote unit was $7500 - must cost must less if someone like TVR goes to buy a few hundred.

A 400-odd HP Coyote motor is $7500. Ford are pushing 480bhp out of a standard Coyote. An aftermarket intake, exhaust and map can get them to over 510bhp NA without ruining the driveability, so there’s headroom in the figures TVR are quoting.
It’s also an easy engine to supercharge or turbo so would be a good horsepower platform for the future cars they’re never going to build because they’ll go bust again.
