I owned a Saab 900S many years ago. Complete lemon of a car. Something was always going wrong with it.

Sounds more like my e39 530i that was perfect in every way apart from the engine stopping whenever it felt like it.

I confess, I'm not fully up to speed on your ownership/test drive history but what's your position on the best BMW M car? What would be your super saloon of choice?

It's a terrible cop-out of an answer but I genuinely rate them equally.

The Audi is more accessible and enjoyable day to day and has more top end go, but I'd never think about taking it on track, for example. It's also quite obvious it's based on a car from a lower class than the M5. I do enjoy the heavy duty feel of the driving controls more than that of the M5 though.

The BMW was a very special car with incredible balance and old school RWD handling fun, but felt a little too grown up for me sometimes when it wasn't being ginger-stepson'ed. Which admittedly was rarely. A very classy car but not as thuggish and immature as the Audi, and the Audi has better arches

I don't regret a single day spent with either of them
