And anyone else with a modern BMW. Could you do me a little favour and measure the distance between the uprights of the front headrests ? Centre to centre.

My F10 has the stupid “active” headrests that push my head uncomfortably far forwards even when full retracted. They’d probably break my neck if they ever fired.

So I’m hoping I can put some normal ones in. Something from the BMW parts bin must fit, I just need to figure out what.

Looks to be about 140mm on her F31 M sport... with 14mm spindles

Yeah, I should have posted that to begin with shouldn’t I ??

Seems to be a fraction under 150mm. But I’m not sure it’s quite 149mm. It’s hard to measure precisely. I’ll go and have another look...

I'll settle on 149mm. It seems weirdly un-Germanic that they didn't go 1 more to make it a round number, but it's definitely less than 150mm.

14mm diameter.

I'm think it's more likely to interchange with 7-Series or X5.
