Switch on steering wheel is a bit tragic…

Very interesting. If its a flat 8 and £250k I'd be genuinely tempted to chop in the GTS as a £70k deposit and PCP the rest.

If it ends up being like the MC20 and punching too high, e.g., turbo v6 and £400k that'll be a massive disappointment. Thing is, with the Turbo S already being £199k, it's sadly going to be much more isn't it.

ETA - Car and Driver saying 500k USD so £375k. So will be out of my league realistically :(

I’m seeing it described as a 959.2.

Looks quite nice but I assumed it was the concept (virtually production ready) electric Boxster. So £60k would be great but not £375k.

Rev Counter goes to 7500 RPM so it ain't no EV and must have a turbot.

Yes and that’s where I’m probably ‘oot’ (other than it being too expensive anyway)

£375,000 means for my money it needs to be a real engineering exercise. I want something new and special for this car alone. It’s Porsche so needs to be flat - can’t be just a regular 6 as not enough to distinguish the drivetrain from a 911.

Really has to be a N/A or lightly hybridised 4.5l flat 8 (but I agree with you, it won’t be, assuming you’re right that the tach is an exercise in setting expectations).

I was going to say for £375k my money would be going on an SVJ but then I checked and they’re >500k Doh!

I presume you’ve factored in the cost to buy 5 new Taycan Turbos first to qualify for a chance to get on the list to maybe be offered to the chance to buy one?

I like it, it's like a greatest hits compilation of good Porsches.

Also a very good point. They’re going to treat this like a GT product aren’t they…

They're all going to quietly disappear into private collections never to be seen again until one occasionally pops up at auction with a reserve of £10,000,000. I bet none of them ever reach 10,000 miles on the clock.

It could easily be a budget Koenigsegg, which is pretty cool.

Anecdotally, 991 GTSs have started going up in value…

There are several 996,997s near me that look so small and nimble that I’ve started thinking the 992 is too wide to be enjoyed nearby, but that is complete hokum because the 997 C4S is the same width as the 992 in standard form. However, the 992 is over 100mm wider across the front track which gives the impression that it’s wider overall.

Not sure about the pencil moustache DRLs at the front, but I like the rest of it.

Flat-8 or V10 engine please.

I bet they will make them in very limited numbers if they are ICE only, due to group emissions etc. Which probably makes it unlikely that it'll be ICE only.

Seems to fall in line with what Porsche have said about wanting to produce more expensive cars and shift towards the Ferrari end of the market.

Shame for us povos

That looks very nice indeed, but regardless of price, I’m assuming nobody here will get the chance to buy one because….
