A consultation is to be launched to build over 3000 houses on Elvington airfield

It'll be a shame if it brings to an end the motorsport events held there although I haven't seen trackdays advertised there for ages. Do they still take place? Top speed runs along the runway seem to be the main thing now. Hopefully it won't affect the aviation museum either but I'm not sure how they'd be able to continue the fast aircraft taxi runs they do at the moment :?

I can't say I'm surprised, it's a massive site and hasn't been a working airfield since 1992. They still do supercar experience days but I can't imagine that brings in a huge amount.

[Clarkson] Some say the tyre marks left by Neb's understeering M5 are still visible to this day [/Clarkson]

Fond memories of this place, despite how barren it actually was facility wise. Our first track day experiences were here, understeer, oversteer, wombling free

I drove an MP4-12C there about 10 years ago. I've been meaning to take the 928 up there for a top speed run - might need to get my skates on :(
