Very sad to hear this morning. One of my favourite actors.

Very sad. I don't do horror movies, but Event Horizon is probably one of my favourites.

Still puts the willies up me, and I've seen it loads of times...

Absolutely brilliant actor, he left quite the list of movies.
RIP.
Dave!

This is a sad one tbh, been one of my favourites since I saw Jurassic Park as a kid.

100 % Zed.
At opposite ends of the spectrum, Event Horizon and The Dish are two of my favourite films...

I remember buying Event Horizon on VHS, years after it came out (IIRC from the HMV bargain bin for something like £6). Watching it on my little CRT for the first time and being blown away by how good a film it is.
Sad to hear of the passing of Sam Neill, RIP.

I have never properly watched Event Horizon - sounds like I should.

FFS, that's another one that hits hard. Love his work, Event Horizon in particular and obviously Jurassic Park. RIP.

It's quite like no other film I've seen. Back in '98 I met a consultant who worked on the film and couldn't stop talking about it. Be careful which cut you see - there is a lot of 'watching through fingers'.

I would still like to see Event Horizon as the Warhammer 40k movie that Paul WS Anderson originally envisioned.
It’s a hell of a movie as it stands though.

I thought the link between EH and 40K was all just fan theory? Purely due to the similarities on the Warp.

It got slammed and performed poorly on release, but has massively gained popularity and been revised on it's rating over the years.
As I say, I can't do horror, but has just the right balance to make it creepy, tense, but still enjoyable.

So the story I heard was that the first draft of the script was pretty much an Alien knock off, so Anderson and the screenwriter rewrote it using elements of 40k then polished the direct references back out because the license was too expensive.
Don’t know how much of that is embellishment though tbh. I just really want a good 40k movie
You can definitely see the influence.

I never knew there was a Warhammer overlap / tie...

Nerd King Henry Cavill is apparently on the case with Amazon....but still a long way off. Amazon's Secret level episode is great though if you haven't seen it. They just need to do that 10x and it'd be great.

Aye, I’ve heard that’s good. I never get round to watching it though.
I’m looking forward to seeing what Cavill has going on though. He seems like a big enough dork, with enough industry clout to do it right.

Hunt for the Wilder people is another great one.
Back onto Event Horizon I watched a YouTube video a while ago that there was an even more extreme horror cut planned and partially shot but got squished by Hollywood. The original had more than enough gore for me.

Top actor. RIP. I know 78 is quite old, but I dunno if it's as I get older, it still seems too young!
