As we're just waffling. Interesting fact: in Danish there are words for good ("dufter") and bad ("lugter"/"stinker") smells. In English there are only words for bad smells (AFAIK).

Bonus facts, "lugter" is negative when used alone, but can be positive if you add the word "godt" (good) after. You can also add good after "dufter" to strengthen it. "Duft" means scent, so "dufter" means "scents [well]".

(definitely not paying attention to a meeting)

Bad smells - reek, pong, whiff, stink, stench

We're quite sophistamacted!

Fair point. I did think of that, then got distracted trying to think of a positive word. Updated post to reflect the correctness of your statementifications.

Bouquet, fragrance and redolence don't have bad connotations?

Aroma is generally positive too.

Not sure about redolence, but rest are valid. I stand corrected.
