Hot Wheels

As a child my Matchbox cars got chucked into a tub, bashed around and scratched up. I did have a few later ones which remained pristine and found those when I moved house in 2024.

Then I spotted an Audi Quattro Hot Wheels car shortly afterwards and bought it. And that began a bit of a collection. I’ve found a display solution - a deep Ikea frame with a 3D printed insert from eBay. Might need another soon:

Anyone else with a collection?

The Charger not fitting in the space correctly would drive me insane....I guess it's the "so much torque the chassis twists" on launch idea....but sorry Simon, it's got to go.

Also, some of them need to be straightened up.
Also, the colour co-ordination isn't quite right. Edit - white and yellow at the top, then a break, then back to yellow at the bottom? You're killing me here.

@Jobbo did you see the video with the guy customising them to look like people's cars (commissions)?

We've got a random selection that the kids bash about on the track when they can be bothered. It was never a thing for me, growing up.

I’m going to rearrange them when it’s full. That Charger is annoying but at least it does look capable of a wheelie 😄

I stuck my old Matchbox cars in the bottom row and they’re all red, then I worked upwards in columns which almost by chance landed on the row colours. Audis in one column, Italian cars in another, American in another, Porsches m in another, Japanese in another… plenty of interlopers though. Not sure if I’ll go more for colour order. We’ll see.

I picked up a nice little Lotus Cortina at the weekend

Have yet to decide how to store/display them, I was hoping the addiction would die naturally.

Where do you get your Hot Wheels cars from? The local supermarkets stock them but I’ve never found any that I’d want to buy, there are loads in Jobbos collection that I’d buy but I’ve never seen any of them!

Aldi, Home Bargains, B&M all within a short walk of my office. But I had bought quite a lot on eBay because for £4 or so rather than the £1.49 Aldi charges, I think my time is more valuable than constant searching 😂

I’ve paid £12 for a few of them - the RS6 GT for instance. It’s a much heavier and higher quality model even though it’s the same scale.

I pick up ones I find interesting when I spot them, but they’re still in the packet and just chucked in a huge plastic tub. May make a display if I ever live anywhere with a suitable space

I use these and keep them in the garage, it annoys me when the packaging is different !

I'm not a collector, but if I ever visit your house you'd best check I don't leave with that green x-pack Mk2 RS2000 in my pocket. (Yes I know I could buy one, but where's the fun in that?)

That's called something like La Liebre, a group C thing of some sort.

Good to see a 500E in your collection Dave. I thought of you when I found mine.

When you see them all laid out like that, it appears, to my eyes at least, that the wheelbase of the Quatro's is shorter than the others and therefore, correct to scale.

This pleases me greatly..

I used to love picking one up for the daughter when I was in the shop, but she's less and less interested in it. Then occasionally she'll want to get the track out for a go, but even then she tends to be more interested in track performance than what the actual cars are. :(

I still peruse the display in the shop in case there's an absolute must-have though. :)

There was a couple more added since that was taken, but you get the idea.
