This whole debacle affecting my neighbourhood made me realise how corrupt the government can be, how they will happily make up statistics to fit their agenda and that they really don't value the opinions of residents at all.

'Consultations' have been a box ticking exercise as long as I've been alive. Government and local government are already decided about what they will do before residents are ever asked, and it's merely 'inconvenient' if people's opinions don't match their master's, and things are steamrollered through anyway.
