Very successsful event. Over £2million raised. Respect to all involved. 8-)

I had to nip out to see my mum on Sunday however, and found myself on a section of road being used for one of the longer stages. And whilst the shorter stages were on closed routes, the longer ones were not. "Caution - cycling event" signage only.

Not hundreds, but thousands of cyclists - ranging hugely in capability - out on the road with all the normal traffic, including buses & trucks yada yada. For several hours, all traffic was effectively slowed to the pace of the slowest riders with normal traffic coming in the other direction > as you'd imagine, this caused issues for the faster riders trying to move through the group (as they had to under/overtake cars & buses too), and issues with impatient drivers trying to nip past cyclist 8473 only to get 5m further up the road and sit on the rear wheel of cyclist 8474. :?

If it's repeated, I hope they get approval to close all roads as appropriate. :?

I didn't realise this wasn't on closed roads

I know that's a pretty big thing to organise at relatively short notice but I can only imagine what that must have been like for all involved!
