Not Getting Old

Just found out last night, a good friend of mine felt a bit funny two night ago, went to hospital and having had some sort of massive brain bleed is now on life support, which is due to be switched off today, once his family make it to say goodbye.
He was 11 days older than me, 4 kids, wife, leading lower leg surgeon in the country.
It feel unreal, we were all at a mutual pal drinking sime wine on Friday night. One of his daughters has her 1st year finals at Uni, the next one started her Highers yesterday, or probably didn't. His youngest is in Primary school.
Just absolutely fucking sucks and I needed to rant. Apologies. Fuck.

Thanks both. Just had to tell my daughter; in primary school she and one of Graham's daughters were part of an inseperable trio, they were all in and out of our houses.
My son was in a group with a younger daughter as well. We live in a small village so it is all "can you pick my kids up" or similar.
So, always nice to have a cry with your wee girl.

That's basically what happened my father - gassing away with someone at the harbour side, then on the ground, then on life support with no response.
It's fucking awful. My sympathies.

Sorry to hear that Gavin, must be utterly devastating for everyone under any circumstances, but that age and how its happened. Thoughts with you and the family. Fucking awful, can't comprehend it.

My dad had a massive heart attack (the type where you’re dead before you hit the floor) back in 1998, I was 11 going in 12, and he was only 51.
My sympathy not all involved. It’s an awful situation to be in

Long term client called me yesterday to say she's got terminal cancer and given 8 weeks to live. She's only 42 and has two young children.
And yet I sit at work worrying about the most trivial nonsense.
I did read 'a beginners guide to dying' by Simon Boas who wrote an account of his last months to live. It was a vein attempt to help me live more in the moment and realise what's really important. I'm sorry to say it hasn't fully worked as I'm still an idiot.
