On Friday we picked up the Cayenne which replaced our Macan. Very, very lucky indeed with the timing; new car tax on first registration is going up a lot on 1 April and now Porsche have increased prices as well (though ours was locked in when we fixed the spec in February). The same spec would be £2k more now and the road tax an extra £3500 or so, I believe. So thank you very much to Tewkesbury Porsche again for rushing delivery through as quickly as possible.

And it’s a big old chunk of car. It towers over my S6. The wheels look enormous (22”s with 315 section rear tyres). It’s certainly spacious enough. The V8 makes a rather nice noise; sport exhaust is standard on the GTS though it’s not as raucous as a 911 when turned on. It’s definitely more luxurious than the Macan.

It’s not my type of car at all though; a Cayenne was my wife’s choice and I just chose the model and options. I’d rather have a Macan GTS because it’s more chuckable, like a big hot hatch. It buying it gets me the GT3 allocation I’ll be happy though.

That is a hefty chunk of steel! Is Manuel an option or was that only on the Gen1 GTS?

Certainly no Spanish gearbox available - there’s not even a place where a manual gearlever would go now they’ve moved the shifter to a little paddle on the dash. But it would be utterly out of place to have a third pedal and manual box; it’s a very big SUV and would be fab for cruising across the US coast to coast.

THey have got better looking with each new model/face lift. looks nice and less "try hard" than the RR Sport, for me anyway.

I don’t think it is bad looking but I do think the Macan is much better looking. The styling of this is clever in that it disguises how big it really is by keeping everything in proportion.

I agree, the Macan is a great looking crossover but if you have to go for a massive SUV, your one is nice.

It's funny just how much they've improved the looks over the years, it's a handsome looking thing now. You have to admire the engineering that goes into these things to get them handling like they do for their size and weight.

That looks great, wheels really suit it that colour.

Very nice!.. great colour combo (do we all have Jobbo interior-itis now!? ) and a V8 is to be celebrated in any car these days. I’ve test driven all the current Range Rovers and they’re just too.. not sure what it is tbh frumpy? rolly? Unreliable?.. the Cayenne and X5 would be much better options for me personally.

Yep, like the spec and I think a Cayenne is far nicer than a Macan.
As for Range Rover, I've always thought they're pretty average SUVs in terms of their engineering so they make up for it by covering everything in lashings of leather.

Just followed a new GTS for a few miles after picking up Mrs mik from town. Look good but also pretty chunky - quick check confirms it’s a bit bigger than the e-trom in all directions

I’ll have a 911 of some sort but since I asked the question and got a positive response, it would be rude not to go for the GT3. It would potentially cost less to run due to lower depreciation so it even makes sense.

You could say you saw a Heron shaped cloud so it’s the obvious choice, any reason is a good one to get a GT3.

992 Tourings are not losing money, but also not going up in price.. in fact, 991 Tourings go for more than 992s! I’ve no idea why though .. maybe the S/T is keeping them honest?

Interesting fact I read recently - there were more Ferrari 488 Pista’s made than there were stock 488s! So if rarity is a factor in perceived value, then the 488 should be worth more and is actually a bit of a bargain.. I wonder if the Tourings are having a similar issue?

I'd be Pista if I bought a Pista just for the additional rarity
