He was definitely one of the more interesting characters in F1.

RIP indeed. Always held firm opinions. 76 feels a bit too young.

Ahh, that's sad news.

Watching him on the FFS podcast thingy with Coulthard, Eddie seemed to be genuinely loved by the people who worked with him in the past.

RIP. Always entertaining to watch and those who worked with him always held him in such high regard.

That's very sad. His Jordan team were really great fun - the 7up cars, then the Bitten and Hisses era, always stood out on the grid. And I remember Damon getting their first F1 win very clearly. I guess the decline of my interest in watching F1 closely followed Jordan's decline and takeover as a team. Eddie made a great commentator though.

A real loss to the sport.

Totally agree Jobbo - lovely looking car...

He was definitely a character, that's for sure.

RIP Eddie...

One of the last garageistas. What a phenomenal legacy. RIP.

Apparently he'd been fighting prostate cancer for a year. It's worth being aware of the symptoms.

needing to pee more frequently, often during the night.
needing to rush to the toilet.
difficulty in starting to pee (hesitancy)
straining or taking a long time while peeing.
weak flow.
feeling that your bladder has not emptied fully.
blood in urine or blood in semen.

I'm in a high risk category with my grandfather and uncle having had it so I get my blood checked every year.

Ah, damn. RIP.

Really enjoyed him and DC together on the TV box. And fortunate to be stood just behind the camera crew when they were live from the pit lane of Silverstone a few years ago.

RIP to one of the few remaining legends in the sport. Impressive list of drivers on his roster during his time as a team boss too.

Well said.

Saw him at Silverstone once hanging out of some temporary changing room back stage getting ready to go on with his band. He was being a character playing to the crowd then, as I suspect he was most of the time.

RIP. A titan of the F1.

@nuttinnew I wasn't fully aware of his driving career until I watched that. Very nice vid. No you've got grit in your eye.

Great tribute. I remember the first victory with Hill like it was yesterday.

There's loads of really nice tributes on social media from those who have worked with him over the years with some great pictures and tales.

Until Chris Harris posted his one I'd totally forgotten he was on Top Gear for a bit.

There’s a great video of him interviewing Stefano Domenicali following “fernando is faster than you”

You can see Eddie both puts him on edge, and simultaneously puts him at ease, definitely a unique talent
