Is it the 90’s again? I thought people had stopped lobbing roofs off cars and fitting slightly weird looking soft tops and ropey looking roll structures to them

In saying all that, it’s still better than landrovers own effort with the evoque

That looks really clumsy, needs to be a sleeker design as it doesn’t match the rest of the car.

"Qatar"

That explains a lot.

The side windows in the hood and the overall flimsy shape are appalling. Baur could do it much better 40+ years ago.

Pointless if you can’t fold the windscreen down.

Agreed. It’s like having a back-less Canada Goose jacket.

I wouldn’t say completely pointless, it’s obviously a tribute to that limited run US edition they did in the 90s. It’s a cool idea, just badly executed.

You have clearly never been in a Defender, I once drove about 5 miles with the rear door open as at less than 50 mph, you really can’t tell 😂. It’s only when I braked hard for something and the door shut that I realised.

I’m certain my Series IIa is quieter up to about 50 with no roof on than either with the hard top or soft top!

Aye, honestly the best layout for a series/defender is everything above the cowl/doortops removed. Less rattles and exactly as weatherproof :lol:

In terms of culture, yes, the 90s is the cool decade right now

I saw a kid wearing an Eclipse bomber jacket the other day :lol:

Time to dust off the Naff Co 54 jacket and red bomber jeans then.

The nineties you say? I wanted to build something like this (in VW Apricot) then.

The Evoque isn't so bad;
