Yes a great shame. Even more so for his wife who was a lot younger.

Crimson Tide and Enemy of the State were the ones that I loved as a kid/teenager.

A horrible situation. I don't know that I want to know what happened. R.i.p.

My wife and I watched it last night (she's never seen it before)

I’d forgotten Jerry Reed was in it. I always seem to think he died pretty young, forgetting he went on until 2008. And yeah, the paddy field scene is powerful stuff. That wink the pilot gives

His wife died of a rare virus, and they speculate he may not have understood/been aware due to his advanced Alzheimer's.

She was likely dead for days before he died.
