(Brief) update on behalf of Mr Maurice, as he hasn’t been on here for <checks> some time.

Despite his recent absence, I expect you are likely to recall that he’s owned a string of Lotuseses : early NA Evora, followed by an early V6 Exige, followed by the Daddy V6 Exige : the 430Cup.

Should you require a reminder of the latter – you may (fondly?) rekindle your memories by visiting this thread over here.

After 4yrs of ownership however, the 430 has just moved on. It has been replaced by <extremely truncated drum roll> a 2023 Cayman 718 GT4RS.

Demonstrating some rather smart/sneaky planning - this particular vehicle was originally specced and owned from new by another driving buddy (Chris - who is climbing a further rung up the Porsche RS ladder) - hence Maurice knows the full history of the car, how it’s been used, how it’s been maintained, the names of his children etc. Even for an RS it has a pretty tasty spec : those indigo blue (I think) magnesium centrelock wheels look good in the pictures, but another level in the metal. Even when half-covered in brake dust they look *perfect*. :ugeek:

Both Exige430 & GT4RS and their respective owners (at that time) were part of the group at Anglesey last August. @scotta ventured out for a few laps p-ride in the GT4RS (partly for the experience, partly to provide guidance on lines (as he’s done several millionty laps round this track via a number of RacesOfRememberences, and because RACINGDRIVER)), and declared it to be “a weapon” whose wheel I believe he would very much have liked to get his grubby racing gloves on for a couple of laps.

Early (abridged) reports from Maurice (that I am sure he won’t mind me sharing) include “experience utterly dominated by engine & gearbox. It’s scalpel sharp. It takes some commitment to keep it pinned to 9krpm. Sensory overload”. :geek:

All of which I read as happy-boy. :)

I’ll sign off now as I need to make his tea and toast, and he gets snippy if I dilly-dally or put too much milk in.

Same person in each under controlled test conditions for consistency of results. ;)

Nice! Those wheels need sorting urgently though.

Although no offer to sell me the 430 :(

Yeah, the blue wheels do nothing for me, but it’s still one hell of a car! shame he can’t be arsed to come on here and tell us about it himself!

IMO The RS will be quicker. Its got 500 bhp and much more Aero. Carbon brakes. Better electronics.

I'm sure you're right, it's also got an extra 300kg though which is why you need the carbon breaks.

They're both very awesome, I can't decide which one I want more.

Was afraid I’m not cool enough any more

Hello YBOC, long time etc.

Didn’t expect Mik to do a whole new post, but couldn’t have put it better myself really!

I absolutely loved my time with the 430 (4 years, 18k miles) but given the car was getting on a bit, coupled with an offer too good to refuse, it made sense to chop and change.

I’ve not really had a chance to drive it in anger for an extended period as weather has been terrible, but for the brief periods where I’ve been able to open the taps, it’s utterly mental. Definitely quicker than 430 (Porsche ponies v Lotus ponies) and the front end is so, so sharp. Unbeknownst to me before buying it’s had a fast road geo set up, with a bit of extra camber at the front which probably explains it. The noise is simply incredible too. It just seems to have a wider operating window than 430 in that it can be more docile (all relative of course) but also more intense when fully lit.

Totally get the wheels aren’t for everyone, but I like them as it adds a bit of personality to it (and by personality I mean total yobbishness). Matches quite well with interior too.

Over the moon with and can’t wait for spring to arrive so that I can get properly acquainted with it.

I hope Miks tea and toast met your high standards, Maurice

This is the GT4 RS with the air intakes feeding from where the rear quarter window, so it has a mega induction sound right? I bet you're looking forward to being able to fully extend the engine, when the roads are dry and relatively warm!

Enjoy it mate, it's one hell of a car.

EOTR on the Exige as well please, or at least reply to Matty's thread on him buying a Evora, Exige or Emira... To encourage him to get an Exige!

That is a nice purchase. I keep being torn between a high spec 992 C2S and putting my name on the list for a 992.2 GT3 Touring. The engine is amazing but it's not as if the turbo flat-6 is awful. Head and heart...

Spent a few hours in it earlier in week schleping down the M6. Much more refined than the Exige

And just to close this story out - ScottA sent me some pics of Chris’s replacement. I don’t think I’d have chosen this hue, but I can’t deny it looks rather good. :ugeek:

What he said! Seems like loads of members have gone through 320d wagon family duty car and similar, and are starting to get bak into some blooming amazing cars.

No wonder I want out the Superb! :D Love the Porsche and I think the blue wheels look amazing, I must be a big tart as I really like fancy coloured wheels but they have to be on something cool. I think a Mini probably ccan get away with them, and you seem them on lowered Golf GTI but tbf, the GT4RS qualifies with bells on.
