FFS Update your website!

I once used M.B.Jarvie in Glasgow for a 4-wheel alignment on mrs mik's E-Tron.

They use Hunter alignment kit, and have an excellent reputation. Work on lots of premium vehicles and have a real "do it right" attitude. Based on this - they don't have to try too hard. Order books are always full for many weeks in advance, and they don't work weekends or late evenings etc. All entirely fair enough.

Overall cost was about £270, which certainly wouldn't trouble @Marv but isn't buttons either. Car felt good afterwards, and the operating system had clearly been reset - indicating that they put the air suspension into the appropriate locked "setting" mode rather than skipping over that requirement like some other places who do alignment might 'cos it takes time and their customers won't notice anyway. Happy customer.

I thought recently about getting the Evora looked at - no rush (as it's not doing anything weird when you are driving) but it would be nice to know everything is pointing exactly where it should be. Jeez their website booking system is hard work though :? as you have to fill in the form, but also follow the rules given at the top of, and throughout the page..... https://mbjarvie.co.uk/book-online/

The system allows you to book Saturdays and Sundays. But you need to read the note to see that they don't work Saturdays or Sundays, and if you try to book one of those days your request will be rejected. JUST UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE TO BLOCK THESE DAYS!

You can book any date in the future. But you need to read the notes to see whether these dates are actually available. JUST UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE TO BLOCK DAYS WHERE YOU CAN'T ACCEPT BOOKINGS

You are asked to confirm whether you are flexible about the date you request. This is a mandatory "Yes" or "No". OK that is fine. But no - you actually you have to click "Yes". If you click "No" then your booking will be cancelled. FFS JUST UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE TO REMOVE THIS MANDATORY FIELD!

By the end I was frustrated and booked nothing.

Had a similar experience with local Hyundai dealers service booking last week, I had to choose between four options of how my service was treated, which dictated available booking slots for that type (while u wait, pick up etc etc).

Went through the awful interface, booked a Friday so I can just take a half day and get it sorted. Confirmation email comes through, so I duly request my half day leave at work..

Ten minutes later, another email from the dealer - "Booking amendment". They just went ahead and booked me for the following wednesday, no please or thankyou. Called and asked what the hell -

Dealer FWit. "oh While you wait isn't available on that day so we rebooked it for you"

Annoyed of Chester "What bother having an online portal if its giving the wrong bookings, and you bloody ignore customer requests then?"

Dealer FWit "Oh, did you want a Friday.."

VAnnoyed of Chester "Well, Duh, why you think I booked a Friday"

The only reason I'm sticking with this shambles is the "service" is £63  And I can nip to Tesco nearby and get some shopping done.

Phone them? I've booked an MOT through Kwik Fit before where unavailable/closed days are blocked and still been contacted: oh, our MOT tester is on holiday so we can't do it then. Even the big companies are guilty. Their work is good, why do you want to make a booking without human contact?

I had time to look into the topic over the weekend. They don't work weekends.

My main issue with the whole online booking/email Vs phone call is - either make sure you maintain and check your online services OR remove it and tell people just to ring.

It's like main dealers who have email addresses and never check them because "people who are serious will call" then remove it from your website, bellclapper .

Nah. Having a half broken site keeps people on their toes. Plus, the Chinese give me good money to sell all your browsing habits. They're a great bunch of lads.
