Looking for somewhere to take the other half as part of her Christmas presents. Wont be going around Christmas, more likely early next year. We tend to favour a good steak but open to anything really, if it has a Michelin star then she’s even happier! I know a few of you are around that way often so recommendations would be good.

What kind of cuisine do you like - there’s a lot of choice so helpful to narrow it down first.

If you want a steakhouse you’re well served with Hawksmoor, Goodmans and lots of other - maybe l’entrecote for something a bit more of a ‘theme’ but the suggestion of Michelin star means you’re likely looking for something a bit more than that?

To be honest we’ll try anything if it comes with a good recommendation! I’ve just been looking at Hawksmoor, looks a nice venue. We’ve mainly done Michelin star places in Edinburgh, we’re not really familiar with ones in London.

Is Nusr-Et still going? Now the social media buzz about Salt Bae has died down I wonder if they have any customers at all.

The New York one went bankrupt - I'm sure the rest will follow in the fullness of time...

As for restaurant recs - I went to Barrafina for my birthday this year and have been a few times. If you like Spanish cuisine its up there (it has a Michelin star but is not a white tablecloth place so a good combo).

Seem to remember the Bull (https://www.thebullhighgate.com/) being quite decent if you're happy with a pub. Although you might want to ring up and see if they have space.

Yep The Bull has a good reputation and we used to hang out in The Flask when I lived around that area. It’s a great area for pubs, the main high street (not the street by the station) has a load of good options, but as Duncs said definitely book ahead.
