Countdown to picking up new car day

I don't get a new car very often, in fact the last time I bought a car that I actually wanted, for myself, was 10 years ago. Since then I've had a selection of different half-assed hatchbacks and a few "that'll do for now" bargains, plus a BMW which was chosen specifically for Turo, it was never really 'my' car. Getting the Ateca on Friday feels about as close as possible to an adult version of waiting for Christmas as a kid. Literally counting the sleeps

I'm feeling your excitement. Nothing better. Are you collecting or is it being dropped off?

Collecting it at 3pm in Cambridge 8-) then we'll have a good chance to drive around after a celebratory drive-thru McDonalds (family new car tradition).

I'll grab a McDonald's on Friday too, in solidarity.

I usually keep my cars 5+ years so like you it’s a proper event for me too.

Waiting to collect my Elise was murder, easily felt like 4x the actual time

That must have been absolutely torturous, that's a car which is truly desirable, unlike my washing machine!

It's going to be nice and shiny! My golf wagon got delivered and was covered in green where it's clearly sat outside for a few months 😆

I will pre-warn the Cambridge heart attack centre... easy to stop by on your way home for a quick Clarkson style artery clean out

Appreciated  this diet is fucking ridiculous, I'm going to end it soon, it's just too stupid and too risky. I never thought I'd crave a salad but here we are.

Does it have keyless entry? There’s a way to deactivate it when you lock the car on vag group vehicles, it’s something like lock the car with the key and immediately press the keyless button. Worth doing overnight to try and avoid the signal relay theft, on top of RFID blocking bags etc

I've missed this, please tell me you're doing the Dave! diet? Is this on your YT?

On TikTok/IG etc. Because I was doing a different diet each month, until August when I said I'd done enough and plant-based or Mediterranean were best. However, I couldn't stop thinking about this stupid meat diet. So yeah, today's day 12 of living on meat and eggs (plus a tiny amount of veg). It's a silly diet, don't do it  I'm putting health warnings on each video

My 5k time has tanked by about a minute in the first two weeks :o it's terrible for any form of athletic sport.

Thanks for the note, I think it does. Looks like it can be turned off permanently with VCDS, or temporarily for one locking cycle by:

"locking the car with the button on the key fob, then pressing the lock button on the car door handle within 5 seconds."

Handily you know someone with a VCDS machine
Congrats on the new car. Mmm, shiny. (will now go and catch up on that thread)

Well adding veg isn’t doing the diet is it 😂

It's still keto because I'm under 50g/day of carbs, which should have the same effect on cardio-based activities as full carnivore, because both result in essentially zero muscle glycogen.

It’s just not the case, you’re on a low carb diet that’s all. When you fully switch over to burning fats only you will feel a massive change.

I ruined my diet by having condiments which was far far less than 50g of carbs a day.

There are also a lot of carnivore folk who think that means low carb, it’s meat and animal products only, nothing else.

Egg, little dairy, cook in all tallow or lard or butter, only meat. Eat till satiated so most people don’t eat enough. You don’t weigh food at all.

Tbey also have too much chicken or lamb etc. 80% beef and you need a lot of fat. If you don’t have enough fat (which is your new energy source) you get headaches, bit of brain fog etc. It takes me a fortnight to fully switch over and that’s when I’m strict on steak or beef mince only.

I love this subject so really want anyone who tries it to try it properly 😃

Dave!

I am slowly moving over to full carnivore for the last week or two of the experiment. Yesterday I had half an avocado, one portion of broccoli and a couple of small handfuls of blueberries, that was all, aside from meat and eggs.

I do feel a bit better today (it's day 12 in real life) than yesterday and my stress levels have reduced a bit. I spent the first 11 days feeling like I was running on adrenaline, it was kinda exhausting.
