Obviously they aren't planning to kill the brand off completely, but it appears they want it to be (and be perceived as) something different in the future....
Not sure what's going to happen to all the stealerships & staff for the next period.

I assumed them saying they’ll still be running second hand sales was a nod to keeping at least some dealerships open.
It’s a bizarre way to run a brand though.

Maybe they'll put a V12 in it with that long bonnet.

A 12V is more likely.

That's not a disguise, that's the First Edition Exclusive Edition Thrusting Dynamic Edition Edition optional wrap. Each one is unique - or they're inconsistent, ybtj. £40k.

Does anyone on here care? I'm 70, but I'll never be old enough to want a Jaguar.

I miss my XJ6 even if the 535d is superior in every tangible way.

Not Jaguar but I had to go to work yesterday, near two hours each way, in the 530d, and same - despite it being better for the job I felt like I missed my Bentley. It some kind of British ambience thing.

You get Jaguars or you don't.
I don't think it's an age thing tbh, my Jag was bought when I was 30 (I think?).
They are very different to be in and drive than other cars, they cosset you and hold you, the biggest saloon car jaguar you could buy would feel no more spacious than a Golf inside, bit that's how they were always designed.
You were meant to be part of the car, not sat in, or on it.
The first time I had to go round the factory I was 16 years old, and the craft work that went into the cars was amazing, a line of people hand stitching leather for the seats, panels etcs, the wood being dipped and varnished, the smell of a brand new interior, it will all stay with me forever.
The big issue they will have, is if the new Jag is going to be a lowered Land Rover, or like any recent Jaguar, they have no personality, no smell, and nothing to make you look back at them when parked up.
My XF and the same generation facelift XK were the last real Jaguars, in construction and feel.
I hope they can capture that special feel, the last XJ didn't sadly, nor did the F Type.

Disagree about the last XJ. Has real presence - A colleague has one and it's a lovely thing to spend time in.
I'll always remember when the coalition government was just a few days old and a news report cut to a rear 3/4 view of the (then new) XJ sitting outside 10 Downing Street. It looked proper ministerial - like it had always meant to sit in that spot, and how its totally original design language looked like it was from 20 years into the future.

Yeah, I think the last XJ is a real high point for Jag tbh. Instantly made the previous ones look prehistoric.
I also like the Cadillac thing that has a similar style though.

Sadly i think the public preferred Jaguars looking prehistoric though.

Yeah I remember the reviews saying the latest XJ looked shit compared to the classic designs of the previous.
It was also weird reading that it had the same chassis as the last gen car. Manufacturer struggling financially I guess it’s not worthwhile making a new chassis.

Jaguar head office meeting:
Jaguar CEO: "Chaps, our core clientele are all over 90 now. They will mostly be unable to drive or dead by the time our new car arrives. We must make the brand appeal to a younger audience"
Jaguar Design Team "Just give us 6 months and £6 million. We'll reimagine the brand so even a toddler will be drawn to it"
-----------6 months later-------------
------------1 year later---------------
Jaguar CEO: "You have really outdone yourselves. Our 12v kids ride on Jaguars have been the best selling kids ride on car in Argos."

That bottom one looks like a bitcoin knock off!

If only there was something that was a wild, athletic and muscular animal that they could use for their logo that had the same name!
