It's the actual rifle that took bronze in the 50m prone at the last commonweath games and gold in the previous junior olympics. It is a lovely, lovely piece of engineering and will be considerably better than I am.
Yup. Like the racecar, it does one job. But does it rather well. It puts little holes in bits of paper a *long* way away.
My club is Prestonpans, so I usually shoot at the cadet range down there for the indoor 25m stuff. Bisley has a super-tech pipe range too so I've been there for a couple of goes. Dalkeith is where I will go for the outdoor 50m stuff, but I haven't been yet.
Oh a few bits cocked up. I needed to do a subject access request with the local police in everywhere I've ever lived. Lots of them didn't reply, or passed me on to someone else, or amusingly, asked me for the exact information I was asking them for.
Yeah, that's kinda already happened. I only got into this by accident - when we were in Thailand in February, my mate took me to one of those tourist ranges, and I discovered I was actually ok at shooting. When I got back to the UK, I went to the Prestonpans club for a try and they put me straight on the team!

When I got back to the UK, I went to the Prestonpans club for a try, and the bloke that runs the thing comes over and said "Oi no professionals". I put my rifle down, and said "I'm not a professional". He said "you're not a professional?" I said "No". He said - well you should be. They put me straight on the team!
That's part of the reasoning behind getting my own. I'm fed up of using the club guns and having to spend 10 minutes and ha;f a dozen rounds to set them up before I'm ready to shoot.V8Granite wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 2:40 pm When we were finishing we went up to target shotting on the 300 metre ranges but had some fun shoots at 600. We had our own dedicated rifles by then as we had spent ages zeroing them in and getting them as we like.
What used to annoy me was having to get 20 rounds down range to get my eye in and Ed our senior guy being bang on with the first shot.
Dave!
