Woke up expecting to see carnage but it’s not so bad, still have internet and no trees down. Main risk is probably from the sustained winds combined with heavy rain that will uproot the trees later.
Winds meant to peak at 81mph from 1-3pm but it says it’s 75mph now.

Our bird table and solar lighthouse have both blown over.

Our basketball hoop started to walk across the patio so I laid it down...

And we’ve lost our Glass Recycling crate.

That’s about it. No trees down near here either

Our pampas grass has lost its one furry frond. No more swinging parties until next year I guess.

Looks like cabin fever has already claimed a few victims in the ‘fleet running reports’ thread

I’ve only been up an hour, no chance for cabin fever to kick in yet

The cats are all going fucking mental, though.

Had to ratchet strap one of the fence posts I repaired years ago with some metal strips as it's swaying fairly.

Being so early in the year will probably save most of the trees.

Wheelie bin from up the bank behind one of the cars this morning and a recycle tub on the drive, no idea where the tub has come from but it will be very useful for storing tools in...

Main road by me. This confirms I won’t be going out anywhere today. (Photo nicked from our local FB group)

Edit: just found out there’s a tree down further up the road the other way now, so we’re effectively trapped until someone removes at least one of the trees.

Lovely crack of thunder half an hour ago, at least I'm assuming it's thunder and not another meteorite.

Steadily windy, constant rain but being on a hill and with no roadside trees, I'm less fussed about flooding and blockages, and more worried about the roof being leaky, which it has been in the past in heavy rain.

The house roof, not the car roof. It's fine.

I nipped out to J&S for a brew and a mooch in their bargain bin, rain was OK but loads of standing water and debris about. I picked up a half price Givi ally top case, had a nice coffee, then the heavens opened. I was supposed to be heading to work but I'm inclined to wait till later on and see if the worst of it passes over this afternoon. No idea if this EV is amphibious or not, and no immediate intentions of finding out.

I don’t get that. A single (or married I guess) man could roll that off the line. Are they electrified rails or something?

Edit: responding to the trampoline image, which was on Twitter - posted by the rail company advising they they were waiting for backup so they could remove it and get folks moving again.

Looks like a third rail system, in which case the trampoline is sitting on the live rail in that photo.

You’d think it would take all of a minute to switch it off, retrieve the trampoline and then resume service, at least it would in Japan but here it will take 4 hours to clear.

I opened the door for the goats, they looked at me like I’m a chump and went back to sleep so I shut it again

I got some tie downs from Smyths yesterday. They seem to have worked. Since the bloody thing smashed one of our windows in a less severe storm last year I suspect they were a good investment for a tenner.

I just wedged ours under the conifers. Seems to have worked, it hasn’t moved an inch.

I'm intrigued to know how lane keep systems cope on days like this.
